I should have just posted this then the 7 volume novel above...

Seems to fit my last post an what i was trying to say.

The same argument is getting fought in Canada, probably a few years behind the US...

This is something that is so wide spread, so prevalent, that the people have spoken, in a sense, since it is so widely used, even with all the penalties for use. I'm sure I'm a geek's geek...I've never even tried wacky tabaccy, nor anything else that's mind altering...but even I have to say that I think that it should be legalized and governments take the taxes, not the underworld.

Once it's out in the open, then we can properly take care of those that have problems with it and use some of the new tax revenues for that.

Up here in my neck of the woods I have a couple of neighbors that each have been busted TWICE for grow ops! It seems to me that BC one of the pot growing hotbeds of North America. If we legalized it we should be swimming in tax revenue.

Funny story--years ago, my wifes dad had rented a field to grow hay on. When it came time to cut and bale, there was a lush green section in a rough corner of the field that was kinda by itself and hard to get the machinery into. They said "heck, lets cut it anyway, its pretty lush". So, they cut it and eventually, after everything was dry, baled the field and the rough corner. They came back a couple of days later to pick up the hay, and found that about a dozen bales were taken from the lush area. Hmm....wonder why? Maybe someone needed a bit of feed for a horse.

Well, that winter, feeding the cows, "dad, this hay smells funny". "Its ok, use it anyway". A little later, "Dad, one of the cows is down and its acting funny". Well, you guessed it: They had baled someones wacky tabaccy patch. And if you know how a baler works, it picks up the hay here and eventually drops the bale there. Which can be hundreds of feet away. So the guys who took the bales that were in their patch got good hay. And the tabaccy went to the cows. Didn't seem to hurt them, just made them real mellow. My wife still giggles about that. You gotta realize mom and gramps didn't know what it looked like and didn't even think of it until the cows were going down.

So, anyway, legalize the stuff, not unlike booze, and bring the upsides and downsides out into the open. Where both can be handled intelligently. Well, maybe not, with government with its hand into it. But better than how it is handled now.

    Jon.

I'm only going to post a quote... with a credit & a date ... I'll leave it to the reader to figure out the relevance.

I met an old timer (to me then), farmer in central Georgia in the early eighties. He was growing milo in one section of his farm, in the middle of milo was his cash crop. Yep, that funny smelling tobacco, was the first time I had ever even seen some (hadn't indulged myself yet). He had never tried any as well, but was real proud of his cash crop. Couldn't understand why people would smoke a weed, but he had concluded with simple arithmetic that the weed was his best cash crop. I had to agree with him then and makes more sense now!

I'm curious to see how this goes as well...It may be a case were people using to cure hangnails have ruined it for the legit medical users.

On a side note...Colorado legislators are pushing a bill to make it illegal for anyone under 21 to purchase tobacco products.

I wonder if that's also tied into, the new warnings on the Liquid Nicotine for the reuseable ecigs. Seems the liquid is strong enough to kill a toddler at a very small percent, an enough to make a grown man very ill at the strongest form of 7.5% of some such. Was interesting reading about it the other day in USA Today. Side note...this is why I love my kindle..I get the USA Today in all it's glory an the Washington Post, with comics! An it's free. To buy the WP here on my sandbar, it's like 2.50 a day an almost 5 bucks for the sunday one. I grew up with it so it makes me giggle to get it now anywhere I have wireless for free.

Anyhow, back to my original post...I sure hope not, cause there's people like this guy that really need it to function. It's that or pain pills, an we know how that can end for people.

I'll be following it see if it goes further then the Co. Supreme Court.

An dang it KZ..You need to come visit, I bet we'd have some entertaining conversations over the cooler. lol.

Sirscrapalot - I really only read the WP for the comics...I miss my comics.

Someday the wife and I will have to venture out of our comfort zone SSA...we love the beach but always end up in San Diego cuz we always have a good time and have been there enough that we know our way around. Someday we will have to check out your beach.

Didn't know about the liquid nicotine but figured it was too good to be true.

Missing the Sunday paper and wish you could just get the comics and the adds from the stores.

I'd come your way but..Colorado isn't to accomodating to us Raider fans.

An I can't blame you about SD. Reckon it's a mite closer then my sandbar.

An yea..I was surprised at the article myself. It was only a matter of time before, they found a way to call them dangerous. Guess we'll see what happens next, hopefully people got enough sense to keep that juice from spilling or from around kids. It was an interesting read, I'm betting will see some kind of regulation where it can only be so strong, etc etc.

Doesn't take much caffeine in powder form to kill you either...not what I wanted to hear the other morning as I was enjoying a cup of Joe.

Har!! Yes, caffeine is a bad'n. I still remember a first year university chem lab where we isolated caffeine from tea leaves. Got a matchstick-sized bit of white powder. Being young and stupid, I touched my tongue to it and was rewarded with a numb tongue for a couple of hours.

An yet..using a natural herb with no chemicals..is up there with Heroin an Meth in the eyes of the Government.

    Oh the irony.

The same people who tried to use PCP in medicine, developed a drug more powerful then Heroin to combat it...

Edit: So I was curious an took a gander at the list of schedule drugs...Marijuana of course being a Schedule one drug. Want to know whats on the schedule 2 list? Cocaine, several variations of opium, and morphine. Amazing.

Dear DEA, pull your head out your asses an come back to reality.

Sirs I think we may think in similar ways. As I just noticed you are a Raider fan too! I was a season ticket holder while they were hear in L.A. - Denver fans were not treated very well at all. All is fair in love and war! Now if we could just get back to : JUST WIN BABY.
