    Sorry to steal the tread a little but you can run Linux(I am using Ubuntu now) along with any windows OS. At start up it will ask which you want to use. When you download Ubuntu it will ask you if you want to run it along with the windows OS or completely do away with the windows installation. I highly recommend Ubuntu. Mike.

    Thanks, Mike. I'm thinking about dual boot with one of the Linux distros and Win7 on a nice used laptop, and keeping Win8.1 on the new laptop so I can occasionally torture myself and keep up with the times. I don't want to mess around with installing Linux on that one.
