    So my hard drive died...

    Oh and don't forget back everything up when you get it up and running again.

    I just installed Win 7 Pro on my computer and made 2 copies.... One is a resized Clonezilla image and the second is for the wife's computer, with her COA entered after running sysprep.
    I did not want to go through the pain in the a$$ of installing Windows and Office. then all of the updates twice!?!?! So I built my computer up to the point where they are the same.

    Yes, I'll not be putting off replacing my external. I'm not going to have fun replacing lost stuff if the info can't be recovered. There will be much swearing coming from my sandbar. I should ask the state to put a filter up around it....

    Just thinking about it makes me want to have a drink.

    So my hard drive died...

    If its stuff you really need there are places that will take your drive apart and recover your data. I did this a few times when the company I worked for had dead drives.

    Side note a few years later I got a large box of old MFM drives and ended up selling over half of those to them.
