Slightly off-topic, but I met with an elderly gentleman on several occasions while on business in London back in the early to mid 2000's. Astonishingly, his father was born in 1847! I believe his dad was in his early 70s when his son was born- pretty amazing. Apparently the British explorer Sir Richard Burton was this fellow's uncle.
As of last summer, the last remaining child of a Civil War veteran was living in Colorado, but had grown up in Lucas, Kansas. His father was the creator of "The Garden of Eden" in Lucas....
