    Shooting on Norfolk Navel base

So the day begins with this...

One navy personal killed, an one civilian, which was the shooter. Security forces took the shooter down.

Wtf is up with the attacks on military of late? First the Navel Yard in DC, an now at a huge base down in Norfolk, Va.I mean..Hello, it's Norfolk! One of our biggest naval areas, if not the biggest. Dude had to be crazy or something, if he thought he'd get in there an do some serious damage or get back out again. Those cats don't play. I guess I should be happy he didn't choose a freaking school. You folks up that way stay wary, the crazies are out today it seems.

Do people really thing they'll get away with this ****? Gah, sometimes it's hard to have faith in humanity. On top of it, wife herd on the radio news here, a highscool on the mainland is on lockdown, an not letting students into the building.

People are eff'ing crazy of late.

Sirscrapalot - Just shaking his head at the morons out there.

All the more reason to invest in relationship-building and networking. There certainly is no making sense out of this insanity, but I try to hold onto my mental health by reaching out to friends and others (just as I think you're doing with your post Sirs) to remember that not everyone in the world is a nut-job. Lord knows there are plenty of 'em (I'm a psychologist, remember?), and it's hard sometimes not to become bitter, but this forum is certainly one place I think is full of "good vibes" and great positive energy! My thanks to all, for sure.

Welcome to my world SirS. Still don't know why people go off the deep end.

Security was much tighter with full bag checks to get on board another ship farther down on the piers. All 3 local news crews had there satalite trucks at gate 1 of the base. I thought the traffic would have been worse but they didn't appear to be doing anything more than checking badges.
My condolences go out to the sailor who lost his life defending ours.

That was productive...thanks. I suppose one could say everyone is crazy that does stupid stuff like the idiot today. Then again..some are quite sane.

Sirscrapalot - insert sarcastic witty quote here.

I was wondering about that Keith, it doesn't take much to back up traffic there. Heh. I've been through there enough times to know this. When I was reading the news folks were saying they were being held back even further then usual in the air.

The high school stuff ended quickly, still no idea why they kept kids on the buses, an told others to leave who didn't come via buses.

An yea it's hard not be all "humanity sucks" I do my best to keep a positive outlook on things, but some days..you just seriously wonder wth is peoples issues.

Maybe everyone needs to move to Co, eat some brownies, an sing kumbaya .

Sirscrapalot - I had a quote but my dog ate it.

This is a sad story, but the reason as to why these events keep happening are as plain as day. Look at the recent events in Egypt and Syria, and you can see what happens when citizens turn on their government. This is just the beginning of what will eventually become the next american revolution.

Sad but true! Norfolk Navy base is the largest naval installation in the world. Literally a city within in a city and you can get lost there until you learn your way around (been there done that). When I was stationed there in the 70's they had crime on base, including a bank robbery. Like I said NS Norfolk is really a city.
