"homeland mafia sends me a bill"

this is a little long but it is the whole story.

Last summer/fall I went to Omaha to find a location for a new collection center. My wife's birthday was coming up so my brother buys her a 9mm auto hand gun for her birthday.

I knew there were regs about guns and airplanes o I called the airline to inquire about these regs. They told e to put in the original box unloaded and ammo in a separate box and just put it in my luggage for storage in the cargo hold. I did this.

I went o the restaurant area to have coffee while waiting for departure. About 15 or 20 minutes I was approached buy a guy in a suit who asked if I was Michael wier, I looked up and realized I was surrounded by no less then 5 other guys in uniform

Long story short, they took me to a basement room and grilled for 1 1/2hrs. The HLC regs are that the gun must be in a lockable plastic gun case. ?

They finally called the supervisor. When he arrived it turns out he went to school with me and my brother. After a 1 minute explanation to him he tells the other 6 guys that he will take the gun and call my brother and return it to him to be shipped properly.

2 days ago I get a letter from HLS telling me they want $500 for the infraction of rules. No hearing, no trial, no discussion, just send us $500. I sent the letter back to them today with a note of explanation and basically told them to go smoke a rope. Guess we will see if I end up in jail or mysteriously disappear . If I suddenly go silent here you will know what happened.

I would contact the NRA and any state or local advocacy groups. I have had friends who have had issues and they were resolved by suits provided to them free of charge. They will also have the ability to tell you what options you do have and don't have. All politics aside, firearms laws are beyond common sense and often times contradict each other to the point where understanding is beyond reach. I have in the past dealt with 4 ATF agents over maybe 20 total hours and still did not get my questions answered and that was in a situation where they were not trying to jam me up. Good luck!!

Judge, Jury and Executioner! Government by the people for the people (my A$$). I hosted my younger brothers 50th birthday last summer, it was a real humdinger of a party. I went to all my neighbors (one is my other brother), two weeks in advance, invited them to party and wanted to know if there was any objections. Nobody objected and some came to the party. At 12 am sharp I turned the noise down and was doing my best to settle things down. At 12:30 am the police arrived in force, 10+ cars insisted that party break up or would proceed to start arresting (that kills a party pretty quick). Ask to come into home (no problem I say). Once inside, I'm asked if they can do search for weapons? I asked why? We have reports of celebratory shots fired in the air I'm told. I would not have done such a stupid thing, nor do I know of anyone that has ever done that. I refused the search and asked the police to leave my house immediately. They did, ten minutes later door bell rings and police officer hands me two tickets, disturbing the peace and failure to cooperate with a police investigation. Went to court pleaded not guilty to both. Get my day in court with lawyer in toll. Police produce records of calls, indeed a anonymous neighbor complained about noise (11:15 pm/Saturday), but there was no record of shots fired. The police were "fishing" for something bigger! Case dismissed, did I win? no I have attorney bill!

They (Feds) had no problem sending the Navy out to rescue a family on a troubled boat a couple of weeks ago, which is fine in my book, but when asked who was going to pay for it they said that they pay taxes...so no charge.

You know how I feel about the government I fought for and what they have done to the greatest country that ever existed. I miss it and my heart aches for it every single day.

But they had a 42 foot yacht, they deserve the full attention and service of the government and certainly a free ride.

Olddude I do indeed know and understand you, most important I respect your right to the pursuit of happiness. Do I personally know you? No, I don't need to, as I have served with men and women made of the same fiber as you and I. We bleed red, white and blue, we are willing to do that again after again. I hold the second amendment as a given right and in the context of the original words. Supporting the natural rights of self-defense, resistance to oppression, and the civic duty to act in concert in defense of the state.

.357 Magnum - registered to my wife with local municipality, per state law.

We go to range to shoot and I can use the gun, she can use the gun and anyone there that wants to take a turn can use the gun, as long as the registered owner is present, per state law.

We go deer hunting and only my wife can use the gun to harvest a deer because a handgun used for hunting may only be used by the person to whom it is registered, per state law.

Taking the gun from home to range or hunting fields, the registered owner must be present with said gun, per state law.

Summer time my wife is out of town for 8 weeks. Gun may be with her or at home, per state law.

Put together these require that we do a transfer registration twice a year from her to me and from me back to her. Prior to deer season the gun is registered to her. Afterward we go back to have it switched back to me.

Same gun. Same owners. Same address. Different purposes require going back to the local authorities to change the paperwork, per state law.

Police chief and his staff hate state's gun laws.

One gun, one couple and we never crossed a state line to have that mess. Can't imagine trying to keep track of all the variations if we had hunted out of state.

Or as Mr. Bumble said "the law is a ass"

NH has pretty loose gun control.. hearing what others have to go through it sounds like a joke to me...
