    Gems/Minerals

Just cleaned out a hoarders apartment. Six people six hours to empty. Guy collected gems/minerals among other things. There is probably three hundred specimens at over a thousand pounds total. Anyone have any contacts that are rockhounds or are into lapidary?

Are you identifying or trying to get value? You might try a university for identifying. Sometimes they can give the students and undergrads credit for projects like that. I can't help you on the value...

I'm a rockhound! Kinda of stuff did you get? Could you post some pics? Certain pieces are worth more than others.

Thanks all for the info. I'm probably going to offer it as one lot just to get rid of it all. It will take weeks to sort through everything. Pictures that I took turned out really crappy but I jotted down some info from a few pieces. 1- four color fluorescent unknown origin 2- polished calcite 3- calcite crystal in fossil clam 4- Madagascar spectralite/labradorite 5- dark muscovite 6- Libyan desert glass. There are hundreds more. Stuff from all over the world, most still in original mailer.

awesome find and keep the picks coming
DO NOT RUSH. There could be pieces worth some really good money looks like a decent collection. Get the lot checked and rechecked my inflated .02

sales from individual pieces could might maybe pay the monthly rent on a small self storage room plus have a few coins left over for.........

Try Rock Tumbling hobby or RTH
I have sold on here a few times and everything went smooth.

Edit your gonna have to gain a little reputation on RTH first, but it's very friendly and they look out for each other like the buyers and sellers here
