...so, as if said recently, we made the big step to a real Commercial Location this year. Forklift (his name is Raymond), pallet jack (we call him.... Jack), loading docks, a van, and currently 2 employees. One is a retired technician I worked with years ago. SMF has been a great resource as for as making connections. Local networking and my web site also help. We are a registered ewaste collection site and our DEC certification as a recycling center is pending. We only ship to R2 or better purchasers. Our ewaste byproduct also only goes to R2 or better downstream processors. No landfill from this operation! Commercial accounts are much more interesting than residential drop off "stuff". Telecom is a wonderful thing! Local cooperation with ewaste or scrap businesses? Nope! They really don't want you to succeed. That just made me more determined! The market got more interesting when NY stores were required to accept ewaste for free. Friends here on SMF provided the support & inspiration I needed. Now if I can just keep the Gaylords going to my favorite SMF buyer, and the scrap/surplus stream continues.... If you don't see me, just look under a pile of scrap circuit boards. Currently, it's been hard keeping up with the work. Is it worth it? Ask me next year...
