before I bought my tire machine and I had al rims with garbage tires I would use a long strong kitchen knife to put a slip half way up the sidewall and then down to the rim and finish with a sawzall to break the bead, then use a big pry bar to pull the bead over and beat the bar around the rim with a hammer to pop it off... an old tire machine will pay for itself in the money you save on tires you can sell plus it's much easier on the body... just keep the tire well lubed with soapy water
