You might be a scrapper if you look in your metal stash for parts before heading to the hardware store.

Neighbors ask if they can look through your metal before heading to the hardware store.

The hardware store calls you when they need a part.

Patriot, those are SO true!! (#22^^)

Its a thin line between being a nutsy-boltsy handyman farmer and a scrapper who loves machinery!!

It brings up another You might be a scrapper if....

....you separate and keep all the "good farmer stuff" from the scrap before you take the "real" scrap to the yard!!

I've got a terminal case of this!

I'll cut out all straight pieces of iron and mark the size on it with a paint marker before I put it on my racks. Pipe fittings, brass or otherwise, get taken apart and saved. Motors get checked. Electrical parts get stripped down and sorted into cans. I don't keep many bolts and nuts--only if they are in decent shape and larger than about 1/2" diameter. (I'm a sucker for the pretty gold coloured grade 8 bolts. I can get them pretty cheap.) Socket head cap screws are saved. Hydraulics bits are babied. I have an old van filled to the nuts with hydraulics--its so heavy that the springs have long ago given up!

    Jon.

If you are playing cards with your wife, father in-law and mother in law. They each throw in 3 bucks, and you throw in a pound of copper. True story.

If every time you finish off a beer/beverage you brag to your friends how it's like getting .50 back is similar to a rebate, because you take it to the yard.

You might be a scrapper if you get excited when you see any kind of gold while scrapping.

You might be a Broncos or Vikings fan if the only chance your team has of winning the gold is if they open a computer tower.

(Sorry bronco fans, I couldn't leave you out.)

    I blame PJ.

You might be a scrapper if, when the buyers on the forum grace us with their presence and knowledge, you giggle and squeal like a 12 year old girl at a 1D concert........

If most of the parts for the custom steering wheel cover came from your scrap pile...Push buttons for the horn are new but the diamond plate and cap screws were scrap and the International Harvester Badge was from an old freezer I scrapped. The truck has a diesel made by International Harvester in it so it seemed appropriate.

You might be a scrapper when the pile behind the shop is known as "My Junk Pile" by all others. To me it's valuable "Inventory" worth unknown fortunes!

You might be a scrapper if you replace your hard drive wiping computer with another one, because the first one had a large socket motherboard.

You might be a scrapper if you've ever taken the tires off a vehicle you're scrapping and swapped them with the old tires you were using.

I've done it before. I bet most of us have.

So much truth in that post SG!

When you go to buy something, you try to figure out the scrap value of it, to determine if you can make any money back once it dies. You just might be a scrapper.

If your walking along an find a penny, an it's not a pre-82 you toss it back down. You just might be a scrapper.

If your car alarm is the big pile of metal in the back...you just might be a scrapper.
