I got may hands on a video poker machine. it was a trash day find in a dumpster. It is old and I can tell it hasn't been used in awhile. This thing is loaded while all kinds of metal, coppers wires, fans, circuit boards, etc. it has 2 wood panel side which will take some doing to get off. I also have some computer towers and other electronics. I am not anywhere close to a load to take to yard yet so I posted them on CL. Question is how long do you try and sell something before you scrap it?

All on the item, got a flat screen tv in working order and it could sell day one. Got a odd ball item that many people don't know about, and there are few buyers could take a month plus.
I would put it in the back of were ever you are using as storage and wait 2 weeks. If you get a bite great! In the mean time I would google it and see what brand/year it is. Some old ones still sell but finding a buyer will be the hard part.
May be some one here knows a guy who knows a guy...

Just depends how much space it's taking up and if it's in my way. Sold something this morning that has been on Craigslist for about 4 months...it wasn't taking up much space so I just kept re-listing it every few days.
Items that are bigger usually have a shelf life of about 2-4 weeks max.

I'm with KZ.. smaller amount of space it takes up... more likely it is to stay around.
I also take into consideration some things just need "the right butt to go in the seat"
Currently I have a 5 ton hoist hook with a 10 foot braided cable on it. I'm either looking for someone who may need such a piece of equipment or some dude that wants to hang a huge 9.5" hook off the back of his lifted truck (don't ask.. but around here it has become a "thing")
I know that it will take me quite a bit longer to find the correct "butt to go in that seat" vs when I put up a worn down HP laptop with no HD for $35 bucks and it was snatched by a computer repair guy in less than 24 hours!
I'm so into scrapping.. When my Steel Toe Boots Wear out, I cut the Steel out of them and recycle the Toe!

There is now a forum for absolutely anything and everything. Any group of people with any sort of unusual hobby has an internet gathering. This forum is a great example
When selling one of a kind "more than scrap" type of item, I found it very useful to register on a corresponding forum, introduce myself and then describe what you have. It helped me A LOT when I sold a few vintage computer and stereo equipment. You get info on how much it might be worth, you get recommendations on how to fix stuff if it's broken plus you may get buyers. Especially when you think you might get more than a few bucks for it, I think your time invested in the research may pay off. But YMMV of course...
