    wARNING1 WARNING1 WARNING1

HAVEN,T DONE ONE OF THESE IN A WHILE SOOOOO HERE IT COMES !.

"REALITY SHOWS" For the most part, what a bunch of crap , fed to the gullible sheep of the land who have nothing better to do but be spoon fed a bunch of Hollywood/New York crap.

For entertainment value, OK, to each his own I even liked some, loggers, ice road truckers, deadliest catch etc. but some, like storage wars, Pickers (I personely hate that term) scrap wars etc. are totally staged pablem presented as reality.

Some cause damage to real life situations when those with little common sense or real life experience believe them to contain even a modicum of truth.

In the case of pickers and storage wars and even Deadliest Catch have been sued several times by their own participants.

If there ever was a case for the systematic dumming down of America these are a prime example.

Back in the "good old days" I bought storage lockers for $35, and in some cases, got paid for cleaning them out .

Before the internet boom you got got catalytic converters for $5 and they payed good money to haul off their It (servers/computers/telcom).

Yes there really was a time when Leave it to beaver, Happy days, and that 70s show were close to reality, they just left out most of the down side of life but still did show some real life lessons. And I really feel sorry for those of you who never got a chance to life through that era.

I'm sorry but I greave sadly for my lost America. The average wage today is less then the minimum wage in 1965/1969 when adjusted for inflation this is not my opinion, but hard fact.

I truly wish every one in the world could have experienced life as I did but then only half would have survived. Today that would be about 10%. Just my .02. mcw

I need a pipe and a smokers coat to really sit down with this one.

This is were the world walks be it TV, internet, books, radio, no one wants the story about "Joe" and his lost $1,000s buying/caching/working on some thing that is not a 100%.
Look at the forums here, every one who gets drawn into it will see all the good stuff that people find/make. Sure thy may see a bad buy from time to time but its the win that draws them in.
If thy showed people loosing all there money or taking loans to pay bills no one would watch or do any of that! Hell If I told day one scrapper me that few months down the line I would still be chugging along at newbe/snail speed I would probably not be here learning what I could. I'm almost 60% sure of that.

If stuff like that was not shown yes the old days would of lasted a bit longer, but come one times change. New people will show up and the determined will stay and the people seeing flashy gold will fall off into a new fad. And thats were we are, we see flash of gold and run to it. The older of us (I'm 32 so I count) will walk and look around. I take TV like I take movies If I get enjoyment out of it yay, if not I change the channel.

My father in law is a bit "Government out to ruin man", were every one in power is a communist and want to make us all stupid. Were every thing I do now what shows I watch or how I play a video game is just another way thy win. I fully agre that some stuff thy put out is retarded but at the same time I have no care what other people watch. If some one wants to slap on a rain coat and buy a boat to fish do to them seeing a guy make $30,000+ then more power to them, let me know who that worked out for you. If some one likes watching Hunny Boo Boo then, well I will diss-own them but you get were I'm going. Times change, and like you said, the good old shows and days cut out a lot of the bad in life. The bad was still there and we wanted a life like them.

To the Hollywood, keep thinking we are as stupid as you show us. When #$%^ hits the fan, I know who to get what I need from and how easy it will be. I'm looking at you Hollywood.
Let the masses think America is stupid so that when it is time America will stand up and show how smart we are. You can't let a few peoples opinions get labeled on every one. When we are at our weakest we show how great we can really be.

Don't give up hope for us yet, if its just a few sparks in the world we can still start a fire.
Sorry if I went left field or missed the point.

< sinister grin > It's the discovery network putting out all that crap.

We went into the discussion forum for " The Colony " and ripped that show to shreds. The criticism was so bad that they not only shut down production but shut down the board as well.

It's easy to spot the lies when you reason things through.

Agreed! If people believe what happens on TV is always true I have some land down in Florida for sale. It's not Hollywood's fault that those shows get good ratings which equals big bucks. Personally, I don't understand the allure of watching someone work. Those storage wars, and pickers shows have given the sheep in our society the belief that somehow they will strike it rich by buying peoples FORGOTTEN junk. As for the tv shows that use to display what morale's are about are all but gone sadly to say. Does that mean the current generation will act like the shows they watch? I hope not.

I've been to a few auctions. Most recently it was quite out of hand. People bidding $1,500+ for a pile of boxes. You couldn't even see what was in them. But I'm sure they were full of (insert rare/valuable/harder than hens teeth to find item here)

    People are just...

    I can't...

Free TV is the Beaver, Brady Bunch, Hawaii 5 O, Sanford and Son and lots of Mexican Stuff (chicks don't wear much clothes! Late at night!) Over the air vs. cable "Reality" shows. Free is free but to pay for "Reality" I don't think so. And I would do Samantha the witch from Bewithched ! LOL

Only time i sleep with the tv on is if I'm traveling. Works well at a hotel to keep out the noise from outside, or hell even the rooms next door. Also helps to keep my dogs quiet, so their not barking or getting up every time they hear someone in the hallway. An yes..my dogs go with me an the wife when we travel. Unless it's a day trip they always come with us. They've even been to Disney! I bought some ears for them. lol. I need to find the pic. It's classic they got a look on their face like.."Seriously dude? Your putting this on me? I'm so peeing on something for this you bastard!"

At home i sleep with the radio on. Blocks the noise during the season, an it helps me stay asleep once I am.

Short answer: White noise with pictures. I usually choose a channel with no infomercials. Nick at nite is good for this, as is the weatherchannel. No blaring infomercials at 3 am. lol
