There's still good people and good places out there. We choose to move from Fayetteville, NC to the mountains of NC; close to Boone to be more specific. It's truly like stepping back in time about 50 years. we had to escape all the violence of a big city. Every week someone was getting murdered or rapped. Here, streets roll up at 6pm, just about everyone is in church on Sunday and Wednesday, people actually drive the speed limit, kids listen to country and wear clothes that fit, the worst crime is domestic stuff and some drug use, everyone knows everyone....it's refreshing knowing there are still places like this.
Society has creeped in some though, most noticeably with kids and video games, we have Wal-Mart (you've got to love them and hate them), and of course TV (hard to filtwe that out). People have somehow managed to hold on to their roots of family, church, and hard work.
The thing I hate the most is all the tourists. They're either Yankees or from Flordia....basically one in the same. No offense to anybody. They just over run the place in the summer and have more money than they know what to do with. Example....a 4,000 square foot cabin on the side of a mountain that sits vacant 10 months out of the year.
What's refreshing though is driving by the fruit stand at night on my way home from work and seeing all the produce still left out...people able to trust people....wow, what a concept!!
