    GreendDot Sucks

Ok, so mind you I have three little girls and a pregnant Fiancee... I have to overdraft my debit card quite often... So I had to overdraft my card to get gas in the truck to get to work and come through for the rest of my pick ups till payday, well, netflex decided I owed them money. I didnt have it in my bank account, so I went to walmart and used a bit of the cash from my last haul off to get a prepaid Greendot card. Well apparently it cant be used for netflex till the card with my name on it comes in that mail in 7-10 days. Talk about some BS. I'll get paid in three days and pay the bill but try telling a Pregnant fiancee and three little girls that they have no TV for three days. If I go missing and you see a random murder story in Ellsworth Maine, blame my fiancee and GreenDot...

I use greendot all the time for my card. They are just the loaders of the card, your card will come from someone else..like accountnow, or another company.

In the future use a prepaid visa the ones that won't come with your name on it. If I recall you need to register it online to use it for purchases online.

Once you get the card with your name on it tho, it's awesome. Lest for me. You'll be able to hit up Walmart, CVS an several others an they'll put the money directly on the card with one swipe. Other places you'll need to buy the card separate(same fee as if they swiped it on for you 4.95).

Hopefully they won't kill you. You can also do a search for sites to watch tv for free. I use one I like. Tween it, Netflix an my crappy cable company I never go without something for the wife to watch or me to catch up on the little tv I do watch.

Good luck an don't be so hard on them, their just trying to protect you with the name on the card thing.

Edit: If you end up with accountnow there is a monthly fee unless you do direct deposit..10 bucks I think is the fee. I just pay the fee an go about my business. Don't know how the other companies do it. I know there is one out that charges per transaction(first 15 if I recall right) or a 10.00 monthly fee. Other then that i don't know how the others work, I don't usually look anymore. I've been with account now for..about 10 years..maybe a touch longer. First 7 I didn't worry about the fee, since I did direct deposit.

I've had Greendot in the past as well and the only complaint I have, happened the last time I loaded my card. Usually, at most locations, I've picked up the reload card for $4.95 and made a deposit with no trouble. The last time however, I had to wait 30 minutes before the funds were available. Normally not a big deal but I was picking up a trailer and needed the cash on my card for the trailer deposit. So I had to run back home and just grab some cash for the deposit. Not a huge inconvenience considering I've used them and other prepaid cards for years without any problems. I agree with Sir. I like the Visa prepaid cards more then the Master card. In the past I have activated the card, signed up for an online account, registered my info, and then had no problem making online transactions. The other prepaid cards I use, usually just have a monthly maintenance fee of $4-$5. I've been able to use my cards online and anywhere else I've traveled with no problem, besides the one above

I've noticed a lot of places increasing the load time. Now I only goto CVS, or Walmart to reload. As it's instant. Messed up two weeks ago forgot about a bill due, threw cash on the card, got back to the house to call it in, an it's a bloody 60 minute wait. I knew I should've just gone to wal-mart (Mine is 24 hours, CVS isn't) an done it. I won't make that mistake again..lol.

I'm not one for regular credit cards which is why I use accountnow. the 10 buck fee is cheaper then the interest on a regular CC from the bank or whatever.

All that hassle for television???????????????????????????????????????? ????????????

A deck of cards is pretty cheap. Get a board game or puzzle. Build something to sell, even the kiddos could craft.

I haven't had more than free antennae tv for many years. I can understand needing a phone, and internet in 2014, but paying for television at all when things are tight, and to go through that much trouble to do so.....sorry just boggles my mind this morning.

Change from a bank to a credit union. IN FACT, EVERY ONE CHANGE FROM A BANK TO A CREDIT UNION NOW! Whole different set of rules and regulations. Get a debit visa with a small savings account you will get a visa credit card in 6 months. When you put YOUR money in a bank, it is no longer your money, you have loaned it to the bank at 0 interest and, in some cases they charge you to loan it to them. READ THE FINE PRINT.

You don't need a converter box if you have a newer set but if your still using an older tube set then it won't work without the box, that and the antenna needs to be above the surrounding trees or the signal will not get thru. (especially when it rains)

Sounds like he's using Netflix, an can't blame him. For 8 bucks a month it's cheap an tons to watch.

I've already figured it out..you can do Amazon Prime an access their library of shows/movies, Hulu +, Netflix an Redbox streaming, an your still spending less then if you were using direct tv, dish or cable.

Amazon Prime $99 a year includes free streaming of the majority of their library, plus free 2 day shipping an other benefits.
    Hulu+ - 9 per month
    Netflix - 9 per month
Redbox streaming - 9 per month

    = 423 for a year.

Comcast, Charter, Cox, Verizon - Easily 60 per month
    Dish/Directv - easy 60 a month also
60x12 = 720 (I'm low balling at 60 as that's usually basic plan, an no premiums like HBO, can easily go higher depending on what you choose)

So for 423 a year you get all the shows an movies you want ON DEMAND. No waiting on the moons to align to catch your favorite show or record anything. Just click an watch..where ever an whenever you want.

Being as he's doing 8 a month..it's only 96 a year which is cheaper then my last cable bill when I had it for a month! LOL.

Who want's broadcast tv which is filled with crap 90% of the time, when they can have whatever they want to watch via netflix or the others I mentioned for a measly 100 a year, an they can watch whenever they want to. Kid wants to watch my little pony at midnight? They can. Mom and dad want to watch something? They can..at anytime. no waiting on broadcast to give you your shows at THEIR times. No need for a box to record..you can also run the steaming services through game consoles, smart phones an the internet..all for the low price of 8 to 9 bucks a month.

I can't say I blame him for going that route.

Good luck watching what you want to watch when you want to watch it with broadcast tv an not recording the stuff.

Either way it's his 8 bucks a month, an I doubt it goes that way every month(the problems he had this time), an usually less painful for everyone.

I say bravo sir. Your job is to make your family happy, not us.

Well, its back on now. paycheck hit the account. And yes at $8 a month it is a good plan. Where I'm at even with a good antenna there are very few shows, definitely not anything my youngins would want to watch. Fiance goes to school a few nights but other than that is a stay at home mom. We usually have quite a bit of company (other couple friends with there kids) so its always nice to be able to say to 4-6 kids, Hey go watch Frozen in the bed room. adults get time to socialize and the kids feel like there havin a lil party. Also, Netflex has ALOT of documentaries, especially about space which I myself love and my middle child, Taylor, loves them also. Good education for her. I'd prolly pay $50 for that lol!

I sell used computers, and get all types of people.

I can think of a few people that are probably pirates. I don't see the value for it in most cases. You take a huge risk, need a dedicated computer (Linux is almost a requirement, or you'll get a virus at some point), and are running the risk to save $8 a month over Netflix.

The only time I could see it was for one person who came in. He wanted a 90s show that was never released on VHS/DVD, and wasn't on any streaming sites, and wasn't on reruns.

Other than that, though, the $8 is well worth it. I even run Netflix at my office sometimes. I never seem to get any work done, though

P.S. If you're even in a bind again, try Hulu. Not the plus one, just the regular Hulu. There are ads, but you can watch a lot of stuff. Some TV is better than nothing.

Late in the game, but any time anyone brings up overdraft fees, I just have to say that I love CapitalOne360 (used to be Electric Orange) for my checking. One of their big pillars is no fees. I overdraft by anywhere from a few bucks to 800+ a few times a year. I have the money transferred back in within a day or two. I pay a buck or two interest. Not $35 in overdraft fees. My finances have gotten to the point that I check once a month or so to see how things are going. It's just so easy with them.
