Will you vote today? and do you think voting laws need some changes?

I know our rules frown on "Heated" political debate and we should not judge each other by any members political views. I agree with this 100%, lets face facts politics affects all of us. I will vote today, as I have always took this as a fundamental right of all citizens. Furthermore I'm from the belief that, if you don't use it, you can "LOOSE IT". Also I strongly believe in providing service to your country and that starts with taking part in the election process.

It will never be a perfect process or system, what or who's perfect? Our voting process has had it's injustices as our country has matured. Not allowing women or minorities to vote, huge injustice! As a person that grew up in the 60's & 70's, not allowing a person of the age of 18 to vote, was another injustice. We could go serve our country, get injured, disabled and even give our lives, but could not vote.

The twenty-sixth amendment took care of that injustice on July 1, 1971. This year South Dakota became the 43rd state to ratify that amendment. This demonstrates our system by design was meant to be a ongoing process. A process not perfect, but trying to do the best for the most.

I will vote today and would like to see some more changes. Will you and what do you think?

Here's a shocker for ya. only those who own a piece of this country should be able to vote as origionaly intended. that way the owners and doers would vote and not the takers. Opinion.

Olddude I appreciate and respect your opinion, like "they" say everyone has one! I do disagree about those that "own a piece", as I think I own more than one piece, in multiple locations and more than one state. To me it's your citizenship that is the meaningful criteria. I do understand what your saying though. We should be a government by "The People" and not "The Owners". If it was the owners that just had a say, we would have even less participation in determining outcome and direction (been there and done that).

Yep I understand what your saying. I probably should have said invested instead of own, there are many ways to be invested with out owning, my bad, I think the first criteria is to be an American in thought and deed, not just a citizen. We've seen what "citizens" have done to this country over the last 60 years. used to be people came here to be Americans now they come to turn America in to the country they ran from. .

When we vote these days it is not about Republican or Democrat. some one show me the difference over the last 30 years or so. its about them and us. Just my ,02.

Voted today. There was a notice that in 2016 ID will be required in order to vote. I am happy that this change has come to my state. Mike

Yes nothing wrong with I.D. at the polling location. More than one dead person has been known to vote and multiple times.

Just got back. Too many sacrificed too much to not excersize this right.

I think our votes count more in local and state elections than they do for the presidential one. Almost 45 years old and I still don't understand how a candidate can win the popular vote of the people and still lose an election based on "electoral college vote". If anything has to be fixed it is this. The will of the people is not represented when this happens, no matter if its your candidate or not.

I can't understand the electoral college either. I'm in Wyoming. I can check any box for president, and it doesn't matter. The Republican candidate will get the 3 electoral votes regardless.

I don't claim to know the solution, but I know that this isn't it.

You need to understand that we live in a representative Republic and not a democracy.

The Electoral College is based on the fact that the country was formed from multiple States and each state wanted to be counted in electing a president.

Without the Electoral College small states would be ignored in Presidential campaigns.

Look at the US Senate. California with 38 million people get the same 2 votes as Wyoming with 583 thousand people.

Yes the electoral college still has value. If you don't know the difference between democracy and representative republic then you may have a problem with the electoral college.

If we did not has the electoral college then it would be "one man one vote" to elect the president. Why can this be considered bad you may ask? I live in NC and population wise its not a tiny state but most likely would be completely ignored and certainly here in coastal NC we would be ignored. In fact you would see the northeast, west coast, the metroplex in Tx, Chicago, and the other large cities in the U.S. would be paid attention during and after an election.

Many have pushed for a democracy here in the U.S.(far to many believe its what our government is) but don't understand how they work. In a demorcracy either the majority rules everyone else or a coalition of groups forums a government and rules over the majority. Look to Italy and how their government works and you will better understand. Remember under Sadam, Hitler, the Soviet Union, North Korea, China all are/were democraies.

Like the scrap busines this stuff requires and deserves serious study beyond the BS distributed in government schools. Mike

I think the thought about electoral college was a good one for it's time. Should have been changed a long time ago in my opinion. Education, transportation and communication are much more advance now, the electoral college was decided on when this was not true. It's a system that has it's origins in time of Romans, I think that was a long time ago too!

The elimination of the Electoral College is a needed change. We our a nation that can handle a popular vote.

Voted by mail in ballot. Voting is a civic responsibility, that's been paid for in blood. Besides I've always believed if you don't vote you have no right to complain.

Yep like Haztech mention, I feel voting isnt so much a right as it is a responsibility. And really the very least we can do.

Voted early and the solicitations, T.V. commercials, and door to door campaigns did not end. Now to wake up tomorrow and all of the entertainment that was depended upon over the last couple of months will be gone. What has our world come to?

On a serious note, I am concerned about my kids. The world they are entering is not the world I wanted to leave behind.

What is this about an Electrical College? Is there any copper in it? Does it have any scrap value?
Seriously, though.... Voted tonight. If you don't vote, don't complain.

    No

When I feel someone is worth voting for, then I will vote.

It's my right to choose, I stand by my choices.

None of what was promised, threatened or smeared will affect my choice to vote.
