So why not find a way to use this to your advantage? Dress like your on the Beverly hillbillies, get some fake Halloween teeth, and use this as a marketing opportunity. If they have such a narrow mindset that they are judging you then there are two options. 1 ignorance of what your doing.2 jello-c either way, you have the advantage

Meh .... it's all over and done with now so you might as well cut it loose.

If it had been me i think i would have called her on it. Just politely & respectfully taken her aside and asked what all the attitude was about. Chances are she's just another educated idiot that thinks she's all that and a bag of potato chips but you never know ..... Maybe she's got something worthwhile to say.

Either way you would find out.

You're going to run into a lot of idiots in life Hunter. If it's somebody that you HAVE to deal with on a regular basis, and they're pissing you off, then the best thing to do is deal with it. Keep it simple. Be honest and direct. Talk it over and make it abundantly clear that you're not going to put up with any of their nonsense.

If it's just some random idiot then just smile & nod and go on about your business.

It will save you a lot of heartache.

As promised in another thread I apologize for a direct attack on you. I will not apologize for my feelings, just the attack on you.

First every profession has it's advocates and those that despise them. Look at lawyers, policeman, teachers, scrappers, the list could go on forever. Most despise others because they envy them. Ever heard the saying, those that can - do, those that can't teach?

Now back on the point that was intended. This forum is an avenue to solve problems, questions, or challenges. When someone starts a thread it is to start conversations. The outcome should help others in a similar situation. It was disappointing that you did not acknowledge other posts and offer the educational value in your thread. You have the right to rant, just help the next individual in your situation.

To the point, we both love hunting and scraping. You will find that more individuals are opposed to your hunting lifestyle than your desire to make money scraping. Now the down and dirty, do you think that teacher thought less of you than the school drug dealer? Suck it up, time to become a man.

Today, I had a guy drive along side me on the road and start taking pics with his phone. Maybe he wanted my number or website. Maybe Im a hilarious meme on tumblr for being a scrapper.its all in how you present yourself. If you show up looking like a hobo and show lack of hygene, personality, and are generally inept you get scoffed. Me, its a business like any other tradesman. I have my own uniforms, vehicles, and business cards. When I get the "so youre a scrapper?" I pop out a business cards and go into my schpeel. Its not about what you do, its how you present yourself.

anything of worth in life takes work to achieve, nothing comes easy unless you are born into money or have things handed to you. i am 33, and i am just now starting to realize that material things dont mean crap and people's thoughts dont mean crap. stay in school and get your diploma!!! if you do not want to go to college then learn a trade. The two most important things in life are your health and your family. that being said, do the best you can to manage them both and the rest of life is easy.

I don't know if it's even relevant, but, you can't take any group of people and say the same thing applies to every member of that group. You have to take people one at a time.

My mom taught for quite awhile and then took an early retirement for health reasons. I remember that for years afterwards her former students would ask how she was doing and remark " She was one of the best teachers i ever had. " I don't think they were saying that just to be polite. They probably meant it.

I dunno .... about 1/3 of my customers are people who are / were involved in education. They're teachers, school administrators, college professors, even the president of an esteemed college. They're kind of a mixed bag. One thing i have noticed is that if they've spent most of their working life safely sheltered within the protected environment of academia their worldview is a bit distorted.

ie: They tend to view themselves as centrists but in practice many are quite far left of center. Consider that our current president was a college professor who taught constitutional law ?

Anyway, it gets weird sometimes. Quite a few college professors and some H.S. school teachers have sort of an elitist attitude so they tend to look down on others that don't quite measure up to "their" standard. It's a kind of arrogance & conceit that would never play in the real world. They're living off in their own little reality bubble. They're sheltered from the harsh realities so it's not like they ever have to come down out of their ivory tower.

There's probably some truth to the statement .... "Those that can't teach."

If they ever had to live in the real world a few would adapt and survive but many wouldn't be able to function.

Point being: Context is everything. We've got Hunter's side of things but he's a man of few words. We really don't know what's going on so we're left to speculate.

If his teacher really is an academic with an attitude it's a shame. For all any of us knows scrapping may be the one thing that Hunter was meant to do in life. A really good teacher will recognize this potential and help a student along their way.

A poor teacher will try to stuff him into a box that he was never meant to be in.

    Blake:

The time is coming right off that you're going to have to go out and make your own way in the world. Once you're done with school life will never be the same.

We all have to work and earn a living.

It's a lot better if you like the kind of work you're doing.

I want to be careful not to assume anything so instead i'll ask the question .....

What kind of work would you like to do ? Is it scrapping ? Is it something else ? Do you have any plans ?

    Far as the name thing...

People are going to call you by your screen name. Why? Cause one it's easier. Two..it's hard to remember 150 regular posters real names. Three there are a lot of people with the same name. If I'm talking to Joe, how do the other 50 joe's on here know I'm not speaking to them? Hence why people call you Hunter, or me SSA, or Sledge, Fudge.

I know for a fact at lest 12 of you have my name. I share it freely in private messages, an if someone called me it on here in the public eye I'd likely pass right over it as I don't expect them to remember my real name, or anyone's for that matter. We have like 10 Matt's, 15 Chris's, multiple of this, multiple of that.

If it makes you angry being called hunter I got 3 pieces of advice...

    1. Ask to change your Screen name.
    2. Start signing your posts with your real name, so people actually know.
    3. Find bigger things to get upset about. Life is to shorty to get upset over something silly like a internet screen name.

Back to your discussion on teachers, boxes, an other assorted things.

Sirscrapalot - I won the internetz! Sledge told me so!

Shouldn't this be in Off topic discussion? what does this have to do with scrapping? Not trying to be a jerk but this isn't (IMO) a ''scrap'' topic. A rant should be put in OT discussion.
