    Thanksgiving Day Plans?

Just curious what all you scrap guys and gals had planned for Thanksgiving. Big travel plans? Sit and watch football? Family and friends? Home alone?

The wife and I were going to meet up with other family in Fargo, ND. My mom is in the nursing home up there. The family was going to take her out for a huge buffet. Unfortunately she twisted her ankle and can't leave the nursing home. Plus now they are talking BS (blowing snow). I have no problem driving in BS, but you know how moms are...doesn't want us driving.

So anyway our plans are kind of up in the air. No matter where we are tho, we'll be giving thanks for all the blessings we have!

    Happy Thanksgiving everybody.

We got about 10 inches of snow yesterday. We're staying home!

I have a coolant tank to put on my Audi, but other than that, I'm staying in!

We will be having most of the wife's family over (20ish) for the big feast. My family is spread out everywhere so it's nice that her's is close by.

Did a tour in the in the restaurant biz before getting into construction, so I'm the cook by default.

I am not allowed in the kitchen unless it is to get a beer (family rule). Burned our house down 10 years ago trying to deep fat fry a turkey. Long story short, thermometer did not work, oil boiled, wind blew it into the firewood which caught the house on fire. Did end up with a smoked elk that was in the freezers. Therefore time to hunt until dinner is ready.

Happy Thanksgiving to all and watch out for those turkeys. You can't trust them.

Thanksgiving is a low key family time thing for us. My son and his girlfriend come down from college and we just spend time together talking and catching up on everything that's been going on. We really enjoy each others company. My wife is a natural in the kitchen. Don't know how she does it but everything comes together at the same time and the food tastes really good. She puts out a buffet on the table and we all just help ourselves. Good times !

Everything is up in the air today. It started snowing about an hour ago and we're expecting to get ten or twelve inches by Thanksgiving morning. It's really up to them. If the road conditions aren't good i would just as soon they stay home. There's no sense in going through a major ordeal just for a visit. They know the door is always open and they're welcome to come and stay anytime.

We will be cooking. 18 lb bird. Wifes Mom and step father will join.

We will also have to suffer harsh "BS" weather here in Sarasota.... Bitter Sixties!

I hope everyone has a blessed Thanksgiving. Enjoy your families.

Our oven went out with no parts available since the 80's so we ordered a turkey complete meal from Martins Supermarket. Youngest daughter and boyfriend are coming down to spend some time with us. All we have to do is microwave the hot foods and the Butterball is already oven roasted.
If I had to buy all the ingredients I would of had almost as much as what I paid in it.
It's just a day to relax, converse, watch a little TV, and enjoy the family. Happy Thanksgiving.

So far all I've got planned is dinner with some scrapper orphans. But I will DEFINITELY be telling this story at the table.
    Happy Thanksgiving, Friends!

Wifey has to work at the hospital so the boys and I will be eating at my bro's and SiL's daughter's and husband's place. First time not eating Tday with my MiL and SiL on thw wifey's side of the family in a long time. Will probably skin out a couple of coons that I have to thaw in a clandestine tubberware bin in the utility room tonight after wifey falls asleep (sssh, don't wake her). The skinning out part will be done in the garage but I have no heat enough to thaw out frozen critters (the downside of working the 9-5 and then being too tired to do it when they were still warm or sort of warm). Tomorrow evening probably reload .308 rounds for deer hunting the first weekend of Dec. The boys haven't helped me to that since they were little.

I may curb shop a route I haven't tried yet. Another route in that area was a massive score.

There's nothing worse than watching your house burn to the ground. 4th of July, 2013 we watched my father in laws house burn down from fireworks. You SD guys may have seen it on the news. Like you in the kitchen, we don't play with fireworks anymore!!!

Edit: Hope you have heat in your deer stand Patriot!

Right up the street from us a group was shooting off all sizes of fireworks, when one of the aerial bombs went up a short ways and came down and right thru a hole in the neighbors garage roof. Ended up burning down the neighbors garage, his house and garage and a couple of large trees in the backyard. They had to call in Fire Depts. from 4 or 5 towns around to keep it from burning down the whole neighborhood. Three contributing factors were, adult beverages, had to go to the lake for water, and the wind was up. Not a good combination.
