It pays to pick up gift cards on the ground

When I fill up at a Murphys fuel station at a walmart quite often there will be gift cards laying about that people have used. I will pick them up and when I get a chance check the website to see if there is any balance on there. So far has not paid off yet for them, but does not cost me anything to check. That being said, on my way to work I stopped at a 7-11 to get a red bull and a breakfast burrito from the shop next door to it. On my way thru the parking lot I noticed a couple of gift cards on the ground, so naturally I picked them up. One was a target gift card and the other was a Visa gift card. When I got to work I logged on to check the balances. The Target card was initially a $20 gift card, and still has the whole $20 on it. The Visa card was initially a $100 gift card, and the amount left on it was

unfortunately down to $6.06. But I cannot complain, $26.06 in found money. Made my day a little brighter, and a little more enthusiastic about picking up gift cards laying on the ground.

P.S. - Forgot to add, when going to a Spaghetti Warehouse restaurant about a year ago, saw an AMC theatre gift card on the ground. Picked it up and checked it. Still 9 bucks and some change on it, but have yet to use it though.

I know people collect Starbucks ones.

That one ended on the 4th of this month on eBay, so if you get lucky and find one your gonna be a thousand-are!

It has amazed me how many gift cards I have found that have the full value still on them. Sometimes they have been in unopened envelopes, are people that busy and occupied in their lives, that they don't have time for gifts anymore? Mostly find them in desk drawers when we are readying a office for new tenants. So check the envelopes, I have a $25 Starbucks in my wallet now! (that will get me two cups, place way overpriced).
