Cool Web Codes and Tools

There is a thread looking for a free website host and I posted a few things there, but it got me thinking that some tools and code that others found useful might be helpful to the DIY'ers.

I'll make a recommendation on software, too:

You'll need an FTP client to upload files to wherever you're hosting your site. I recommend FireFTP. It's a free addon. It only works with Mozilla Firefox, but hands down, it's the best FTP client that I've ever used.

Those are nice, also Easy Website Builder, Hosting & Web Tools from Bravenet.com has a bunch of tools also. Me being me, I use notepad for all my coding.

I would imagine that is a browser launched FTP server. For FTP, I use Filezilla. It is a Mozilla program and is open source and free. I will take a look at FireFTP, but I can't imagine using anything but Filezilla. It is a standalone FTP server and client.

I was a notepad guy, but Arachniphilia is basically notepad with website building help. Give it a shot and see what you think.

to be honest, I have tested a few things with notepad plus plus which is also set up like notepad but has the convenience of line numbers and will highlight tags so you know where to close em. Notepad plus plus is also free.
