    Leonard Nimoy

He came from a generation before my own yet impacted mine and several after by his thoughts and actions for he Lived Long and Prospered. I found out yesterday that Leonard Nimoy passed away from final stage COPD at age 83.

Not many remember the original Star Trek show or movies or even watched them but for those of us that did, no one could forget "that pointy-eared bastard". I wish I'd known when Deforrest Kelly and James Doohan passed as to me, their passings are just as memorable.

Open to memory sharing if anyone wishes to. There's my contributory piece for the moment.

I remember watching the first episode of Star Trek with my grandfather. This was before our family moved to Arkansas, we still lived here in Southern California and my Grandfather lived just a few houses down the street from us. My Grandfather was born in 1903 the same year the Wright Brothers made the first flight in a plane. He taught me many things, but most important was "that anything could be done, if you work at it and live your dreams. He was a big supporter of all things "technical in nature". He first taught me about electronics, bought me my first telescope and was very excited that we watch the first Star Trek episode.

Remember when Star Trek came out we had not yet landed on the moon yet! My Grandfather was a believer in Star Trek, that it was not all that far fetched, just a matter of time. When we landed on the moon less than three years later, watching that together too! I was hooked and from then on I knew anything was possible.

To my Grandfather and Mr. Nimoy: Live Long and Prosper!

Well I must admit I have been a low key Trekie since the start as chino I was very anxious to watch the first episode of Star Trek and every episode after that. At that time I was working in WVA living with my brother and his family as Star Trek came on right after I got off work my sister in law would tell me go shower or no Star Trek had to be the fastest showers in my life. Leonard Nimoy will be missed by all us Trekies may we all Live Long and Prosper.

My generation were the original movies but remember bits from the show when it was in color. Wife and I sat down yesterday and watched em all. Seeing Ricardo Montebaun as Khan took me back to a time when this country's movie industry wasn't so over-saturated, malls were the place to go to, and every corner had an arcade on it. Start of the first movie and my wife was all like SPOCK! They were all so young then, it was a nice trip down memory lane.

Pointed out to Nicole that what sucked about Leonard's death the most was William Shatner had to say goodbye to his friend twice.

You think that's off, here's Spock with a beard... never knew he had one.
