The best pizza I've ever had was Giordano's when I was in Chicago in 2013. Their deep dish was delicious and their thin crust was amazing.

My favorite around my part of town is the local gas station a couple miles from me. Lol. Yes, a gas station, but their pizza is some of the best in town.

I am not getting involved in this conversation. I grew up in NY and I LOVE pizza. I could live on it. I have not found good pizza outside of there. I have found decent pizza in a few places but not good. Where I am now, Dominos would be welcome...

Chicago? They don't even know how to slice a pie...

If pizza isn't your area's forteit, what kind of food is and from what establishment?
We have quite a few small mom and pop pizza/sub shops for a smaller area we live in. Might be the close proximity to Chicago. We have some good ones but none of them great.

I do remember when I lived down in south east Kansas the Friday Saturday nite eatery was places out in the country that their specialty was chicken. Two places stand out. Both were down county roads out in the middle of nowhere and were insulated pole barns. Nothing fancy there.
One place was called Chicken Annie's and the other was Chicken Mary's. Probably were related way back and split up. They did have chicken to die for. I ordered an order of Onion Rings to go with my chicken dinner, and when it came out ended up being a platter of rings, not a small plate but a fully loaded platter. I never did figure out how they could sell that much for so little.

I order plain, since none of the standard pizza toppings are food I eat. Some slices of apple or banana could be an improvement, but after slicing them I am more likely to eat the slices without pizza.

I do like their Hawaiian, with BBQ sauce instead of pizza sauce. Most of the others all taste the same kinda like Little Caesars.

    PIZZA?

When visiting and the topic of what food would you pick if you could only pick one type. I always say pizza as pizza can be most anything these daze.

The best pizza I ever ate was when I was in the military in Germany. No it wasn't German pizza, lol. It was made by Italians from scratch. They would make the crusts by spinning them in the air. They had a coal or wood fired oven and all the ingredients were as fresh and of quality as possible. I can still remember that pizza as I have never had better since.

I miss the brats and German beer also. Was never much for wine.

Now back to the pizza thing.

I can call a convenience store that is open 7:00 to 10:00 most days and order a nice pizza that are made by hand with the restaurant supply products and such. It is about a 10 mile drive so by the time I get there and pick what else I may want, maybe fill up with gas and such. I can pay for the pizza and such and get my hot pizza.

I have on occasion had it delivered. No they don't offer pizza delivery. I will have those I know in that town pick it up and bring it out and help me eat it. The booze store is close so they can pick up supplies there if required.

The pizza from that place is pretty good for the quality, value and convenience.

What a world where you can buy bananas, pineapples and other things from other lands by traveling 10 to 40 miles.

The best pizza was Ches Joeys where I lived in New Paltz, NY. I deliver for Dominos now and their pizza is passable, but it is no Ches Joeys. There is also a place called Philipos here in Sarasota that has decent pizza.... But what I really miss is a decent calzone.

To get apples on pizza, I could buy a dicer, diced apples, or applesauce.
