Chicago, New York, and maybe add Boston ?
I grew up not too far from East Boston & the North End. At the time, it was almost all first & second generation Italian immigrants. There are too many places to list but they all had really good pizza. The sub sandwich shops were to die for. The Italian bakeries had awesome fresh baked bread, cannolis, and other Italian pastries.
Really haven't seen anything to compare to it since moving north but here we get hard shell lobsters, crab, and scallops right off the boat. They hit the dinner plate within an hour or two of coming out of the water.
Good in their own way ..... just not pizza.
