I really didn't know till i was fourteen or fifteen and then it all came together. I wanted to become a Master carpenter / tradesman and move to Maine. They couldn't keep me out of the wood & metals working shops in school. During summer vacation i worked, earned money, started buying my own tools, bought materials, and started building furniture.
By the time i was sixteen i was spending my summers in Maine & backpacking around the state.
Got off track for awhile while attending college. ( In Maine )
When i was 22 got married to a Maine girl.
When i was 24 we moved " down home " and i started my career in construction as a laborer.
When i was in my early 40's " I went out on my own " as a self employed carpenter. Running a business has been challenging but i like the freedom that comes with it.
The years sure went by fast but it's been fun. There have been good times and bad times but i wouldn't change anything. I've pretty much realized all of my life's goals.

I wanted to design things for the LEGO company. When I was 13 my parents took me on a trip and one of the stops for a week long summer trip was in Vermont at the LEGO factory. Sadly plans got messed up and when we got to that part of the trip Sunday it was closed. I looked in every window I could and saw large Mahogany desk with Legos on top of them (now that's a desk job). Today I'm a Mechanical Engineer and I think I owe that to Legos.
I'm going to recycle the world.
It wasn't a choice ... i was driven to it with a passion !
My career choice was to be a forest ranger and that's what i attended college for. It didn't take me very long to figure out that college wasn't the place for me.
There's something called your true will. Simply put ... it's what you were meant to be in life. In the quiet moments you can feel " the pull '' as you're being drawn toward something. The challenge is in having the courage to take that leap of blind faith straight into the unknown.
You were fortunate in that you discovered your calling at a very young age. Many folks go through their entire lives without ever discovering theirs.
Never had an answer to that one.... still don't. Guess growing up isn't part of the plan

The only thing I can remember at 5 is, sitting in a padded chair in the front yard of our apartment in the projects in Omaha wondering if I would ever be pain free and able to walk again.
I was adopted by my grand parents at 3 and at 5 they decided to have me cercomsized I will tell you is was a vivid remembrance.
"anyone who thinks scrappin is easy money ain't doin it right!"
Is this a trick question? I cannot remember yesterday much less when I was five. To the best of my recollection, I wanted to be six.
Ninja , not just a dress in all black hi-ya type of ninja . A full on one man wreaking team of destruction . I studied martial arts for many years . Looking back it was the masters that I hated that made me what I always wanted to become .

When I grew up I wanted to be my like my father, rip 3 years now. There is a picture of me in rubber pants 2 years old helping him paint the dodge pick up with a paint brush. I wanted to be a jack of all trades like him and learned a lot from him. Sadly I think I gained more knowledge than him and am able to do more than he could in some areas. But in some ways he was more successful than me up to the accident. I get by and live comfortably, but I think he did better. Its hard to tell. Some ways yes, some ways no. But in bad times he helped me through and now as I get older slowly paying the cash back now I'm doing better. I really miss the times I could call him up and ask for advice. Its really eery as I catch myself picking the phone up and dialing the number, then a blank stare as I realize he is not here...god I miss him. Even know in some ways he did better than me, I hope he is somewhat proud of me.
I want to join the army even as a small child so I did at 17 and did 9 years on active duty and finished up in the Guard and Reserves

God bless little children while they're still too young to hate
I always wanted to be a carpenter, I learned a lot in the carpentry trade and worked with a cabinetry installation company for a while, then I went on an did some handyman work until that led me into scrap metal and I got addicted to this business. I do still do carpentry as a hobby/ building stuff for the house. Someday I plan to build my own custom house.
Wow did you guys not want to be a ball player or a famous rock star????........I played ball all the way into high school and never thought I would be anything else......Probably hurt me in the long run as I focused on nothing else..........I was an average player with no hopes of going pro but that was my dream.......What little chance I had of playing at a small college was ruined by my wanna be rock star/hippie/druggie lifestyle I started around age 16
