History of trash, scrapping and other fun things on the radio

Listened to this on the radio today while driving around collecting scrap. History of trash, scrapping, recycling and related things

Lots of things have changed since mid-19th century, but some stayed the same. For example, that a lot of people still consider scrappers "dirty"

History of trash, scrapping and other fun things on the radio

I have no problem "being dirty" while i cash my checks and pay my employees every week. It is all relative and a state of mind. They call us "dirty" I say we are the unsung heros to stop "Global Warming" or " Climate Change" or whatever else they are calling it now to pass laws to take $ out of my employees and my pocket ;-)

Everyone complains that my truck smells old and musty (which it does).......What do you expect????............Have hauled 100's of tons (Literally) in the back of the F-150 and quite a bit in the front seats as well!!!!.........I tell my wife it is not a school bus to pick kids up from school it is a SCRAP TRUCK and it looks and smells like it too!!!!

Maybe because I only do it part-time and focus mostly on ewaste, I somehow managed to keep my minivan relatively smell free but definitely not that clean. So in a way it's both a scrap truck and a school bus. Problem is, it's '01 and has more than 150K miles on it so when it finally breaks and we get a replacement, I may not be allowed to haul scrap in it.
