Dodge Ram V6

Has anyone had or have a Dodge Ram with a V6 engine, I would like to know which engine Dodge used.



Also check out the air bag overloads.

My buddy's son gave this truck to me, just needs a new exhaust system and a bath.

I believe that they used the same engine as the Dakota in the last years of the D/W body style. Our Dakota has a 3.9L V6- it's basically a 318 with two cylinders lobbed off. Yours looks like our engine (I believe that it comes out to 239cid, but don't bet the farm on it). Great engine!

Is that a half ton or a 3/4 ton? I can't tell from the angles....

matador It's a 3/4 ton, not to much rust so I think it will be worth putting a few bucks into the minor repairs to put it back on the road.This truck beats the hell out of the 05 Kia I bought to replace my last truck I had to retire because it had more rust than metal.

Makes me feel better knowing they re-engineered the 318 block, that was a really good engine. I haven't to closely under the truck but I think it has a torque flight transmission behind that engine.

Ours was in a 1992 Dakota, so it was a Magnum engine (1992 was the first year of the Magnum in the Dakota, but I'm not sure on the full size trucks. The Magnum engines just had more power and torque, but were the same basic design. The engine we had worked well.

You don't see many older Dodges out there, but I'm working on a full-size one as a project:


If you take care of them, Dodge made a great truck. If yours is old enough to have an ammeter instead of a voltmeter (Mine is a 1986 and still uses the ammeter), check to make sure that the wire isn't broken. There is a lot of current that goes into an ammeter. The volt gauges weren't as big of a deal...

Reminds me of my dads - 90 D250 with the banks induction turbo diesel. Paint's just now starting to flake(and flake bad because it's white). They drive like an oversized car imo. We were going to convert it to 4wd so he could take to remote places(parents are out there in Arizona now) but he had a stroke while we were there in TN and hasn't fully recovered(I'm lucky to be 30-something and still have parents that are alive and together).
