What is this?

Anyone know what this is? It came with the hydraulic ram contraption, but I don’t think it belongs with it. Fittings don’t match anyway.

It’s a hydraulic hose with a deadman valve, ok, so I know that much, but what really has me stumped is what the steel ring is? It has about 20 holes all the way around the ring. I can’t think of a hydraulic application that this would be used for? Is that ring used in hydraulics and it was modified?

By the way I bought that ram at auction thinking I would make it into a vise. Just need to find a power pack. Or I may end up using an I beam I have kicking around and go get Harbor Freight's air over hydraulic ram. Which in hindsight I should have done to begin with.

If the hose was attached at the other end I would suggest it could be used to add air bubbles to a fluid. Or it could be used to circulate fluid in a fluid bath. Mike

Hard to see, but the one end of hose assembly appears to be a brass air regulator. I'm guessing a one of a kind, in house build for pressing on possibly bushings or metal sleeves. Does it work?

Auction house had it listed as a stud press. I assume they're referring to wheel studs. It has casters, to presumably roll right to the vehicle being worked on. The ram can tilt left or right. You can see the screwdriver I put in there to hold it in the upright position. As for working condition. No idea. Paid $57 for it. That was worth the gamble for me. I suppose I could hook it up to the skidsteer aux and see what it does.

The brass is a valve. I should have gotten a closer pic while I had the camera out.

I would say the ring and hose is something someone made from salvaged parts to run air through for some application.

Why would the hose be spliced together.

I wouldn't hook it up to a hydraulic system as it might not be designed for fluid.

It looks like odd parts put together to me. The valve style seems a fluid valve, but they use them with air also.

Put the ring in a container of water and give it "a little" air and see what it does.

I just thought of this from my "file cabinet" mind. Could it be a GAS burner?
