Best Lincoln Welder ever made

I worked in a shop once as a welder, this is the same type of machine I used to lay down 1/4 inch rod. These welders are driven with an electric motor the generator end puts out the smoothest DC current in almost any welding machine I've worked with.

Often you'll find these machines at an auction not many people bid on them with the 3 phase power requirement but I have seen machines that have had the electric motor portion removed with a bearing plate made up to support the armature then coupled to an engine of your choice.

Imagine a 600 amp portable welder on the cheap.

The CC/CV square wave machines tops the list, but they probably have better machines out there today.

Isn't that a sheave on the right hand end of the generator--maybe someone was gonna do exactly what you have described? Like you say, it would be a beauty of a machine...

We called it "The A bomb".. We used one for gauging. It was a lot bigger though. A LOT bigger.

At my first job we had the smaller 150amp vertical sort. Great machine, never did any TIG work with it though.
They were common, I even had one myself, but sold it when I brought a Cebora 155amp DC 'caddy' welder.

During the 'early days'. Our public power supply couldn't handle much load, so anything 3 phase had a desperate starting switch..

I'd almost give my eye teeth for a PowCon SM400 though.

I walked off two jobs where they only have Kempii's. 'Error #2' my @%%!!#$e

"Kempii, good with stainless wire, hopeless with Ali or Steel wire"

Why?

Ali and Steel corrode too quickly and your boat will run aground......

Had my eye on this baby all summer.

lincoln welder, continental 4 cycle engine has skids and lifting hook
he's asking 750 as is...he only knows the motor turns and "looks" like it's all there... kinda hesitant
I can go get a working cnc machine for a few hundred more
decisions... decisions

Yes someone had made an attempt at keeping this machine alive using a belt drive, should have gone with a direct coupling to a diesel engine.
