    Meteor Shower!

    So it turns out...

    The sky IS falling.

11th through the 14th is best viewing for the Perseid Meteor Shower.

So for you sky watchers, oughta be a good show for the next couple nights. For the ones that don't....it's actually pretty cool an good way to impress your loved ones..of all ages!

You can't get a better show for free then what Mother Nature puts on. Well..space in this case..but whatever!

    Sirscrapalot - Incoming..............meteor!

WAAAAAY too much rain down this part of the coast to see anything in the sky.

I wonder if we could bounce some radio signals of the meteors? Answer: yes you can but why? Mike

Should be able to see them well here in Tucson, if the monsoon clouds don't interfere.

Yeah, I forgot you guys down in central AZ only get thunderstorms with the summer "monsoons" which as a term sort of cracks me up when compared to places that truly get "monsoons" like the "rainy season" in the humid part of India. But thunderstorms can be butt kickers. Tornadoes aside, its amazing to see what micro-burst "straight line" winds can do sometimes. So far, in over a half a century, I've dodged the bullets of getting any significant damage from severe thunderstorms although I've rode a few out.

I was working road construction one summer in college and we used a short semi-trailer as our tool shed. Nasty storm rolled in and it started down pouring so most of us got into the semi-trailer. It started raining sideways with the wind so a couple of us got further back into the trailer and that's when it flipped over. Luckily, I hadn't gotten into the way back where the extra jack hammers and a couple of gas generators were stashed. I just took all the rakes and shovels coming down with me as I fell. Good thing for my hard hat and being fairly in shape and pliable at 19. I might be more beat up if the same thing happened now...

sat outside last night with the family, absolutely crystal clear sky's with no light pollution, every inch of sky had stars.
even pulled out the telescope to check out saturn and antares and at least 4 ufo's
had a pretty decent show with a couple of large ones that would leave a streak as far as you could see.
There ain't nothing wrong with an honest days work. Anyone who says otherwise is a fool.- Old Man

I saw this on my bicycle scrap run. Must have seen 8 or so stars just falling from the sky.
