I agree. It will be interesting to see if President Obama will award them with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. I would be disappointed if they did not receive at least this token of our appreciation, but expect they deserve much more.
Give back more to this world than we take.

Two of them are active duty service men, on vacation in France. They do not need to be in uniform, to get the recognition they deserve. I do not know what there MOS is, but from what I'm reading at least one of them has some basic hand to hand skills, taught in military survival training.

France awards three Americans and one British citizen their highest award today. The legion of honor has five divisions. Those involved in the train incident — U.S. Airman Spencer Stone, National Guardsman Alec Skarlatos, their friend Anthony Sadler and British businessman Chris Norman — were awarded the lowest grade, "Knight" of the Legion of Honor.The other four, in order of increasing importance, are "Officer," ''Commander," ''Grand Officer," and, the highest, the "Grand Cross," which features a red sash and a ruby badge. American generals Dwight Eisenhower, George Patton and Douglas MacArthur were also awarded the Legion of Honor.

Perhaps the real heroes are a French citizen and a American professor who were actually the first persons to take on this A-hole. I have only read that the French citizen was first to engage, he declined to have his name released, but will also receive the Legion of Honor. As will Mark Moogalian, 51, a passenger with dual French and American citizenship who struggled with the attacker and is recovering from a gun shot wound. The professor took the AK-47 away, tried to shield his wife as he was shot in the back with a pistol. A-hole by the name of "Ayoub El Khazzani" had in possession 300 rounds of ammunition and firearms was about to massacre many. These five are all heroes, they send a message we are not taking their crap anymore!

French Train Heroes Honored at LA Lakers Game
Spencer Stone, Alek Skarlatos and Anthony Sadler
Friends since they were just boys, became American heroes when they "handled" a terrorist on a train in France this last summer while on vacation in Europe. They took a determined effort, charged, and subdued a armed terrorist that day, saving lives that count!.
Yesterday was another sad day in France, as cowards killed innocent civilians. Today the civil world morns for those that were murdered, those that were wounded and pray for those families that are suffering from this barbaric act of senseless violence.
Today the LA Lakers did a good thing, they played a game as planned. They also honored three American heroes, that made a difference, when a difference was needed and demonstrated how "Civilized" men act. These men said after the court-side ceremony today, "this was one of the Coolest Things" for the Lakers to do, especially today!
I want to say "THANK YOU" to Lakers President Jeanie Buss you did a good thing today!
I think all of us should think about what has just happened in France. What has happened in the past, what has happened in this country and keeps on HAPPENING, will happen here again until we make a difference. This day, on most Sunday's we normally take things a little slower, enjoy are time with families and friends, as we should. Tomorrow it's back to work as that is what productive people do. I hope these SOB's that want to change are way of life, learn soon their days on this earth is about to expire. We need to go to work and do what we do best, take care of the unfinished business that needs to be finalized. As we know freedom has a price and we need to pay a little more for it, as I like my Sundays to stay the way I like them.

Wouldn't everyone who tried to stop those fools, be a hero regardless of where they are from?
Long as those folks tried to stop what was going down , they are a hero in my book. American, Aussie, Korean, Swedish, whatever...you tried to stop something horrible from becoming more so..bravo regardless where your from. Bravery/courage don't care about boundaries an countries.
A horrible act and my heart an thoughts go out to all those effected.

What makes a person a Hero? One thing is certain, by choice they do something, often as other's chose to do little if anything. The they's and the others sometimes go in the opposite direction as few or maybe only one person made a conscious self sacrificial choice to let them that can, go forward in life. Putting one's personal life, in a unknown or into a unpredictable outcome by choice, so another person(s) can benefit, that's just a hero getting started. A hero needs to do a great act, that is noticed by extraordinary accomplishments, that will be ultimately meassured by the enduring history of a surviving action. Really hard to define when it gets down to making a hero.
We all have them, make them and they are always among us. They are real people and fictitious at times only to those that have a need to believe in someone greater or "bigger" than ones own life. They are men, women of all shapes and colors of skin, no border defines a hero for sure. A hero very seldom wants or intended to become one, many never even know they became one. Some will say a unselfish fool, the smarter was the living and faster fleeing cowards who talk about the greatness of that once upon a time person "what a fool".
Your or my hero, may not even be a hero to some, may not even be popular or apparent to all for years to come. Far as I know, there is no self appointed hero, there is not many who want, need or willing to apply that label to ones self. Requirements to be a hero as hard to define as the hero we come to admire. There are many that deserve the recognition of a hero, that recognition just went unobserved. We all make a hero, as they chose to do a unselfish act for the betterment of many, without questioning their own fate. Some heroes will survive to become awarded great praise and deserved privileged prosperity, most do not. Heroes sometimes pay a price for the title if they live, suffering with crippling capacity or mental anguish. Most die a sudden death at a hellish place, a place most will chose to forget.
