when evil takes over one's soul...

Some very sad news out of rural South Dakota tonight, worse than last week when we heard about an entire family of 6 (4 kids ages about 7 through 16) died in a house fire just outside of a small, clean farming town of about 1,500 2+ hours west of here. I was a bit stunned that no one made it out alive. Today, we learned why when the authorities released the autopsies. It appears the dad shot his entire family with a shotgun, started his house on fire, and then shot himself.

It just shows how hateful and utterly destructive Evil is when it takes over one's soul. A dark day indeed

I myself don't "follow" the current media, but I do have a understanding of what is out there that gives others ideas that seem like a good idea to the confused at thought.

What is going on in the world around us is a lot of "monkey see, monkey do" simply put.

The sad part of it all is that it seems that MONEY problems are the main cause for a lot of the "stuff" that goes on.

Not many can understand the illusion of so called money and they end up in the deep debt trap and get desperate.

The reason that the "head of the household" will do such acts is that they feel responsible for "saving" their other family members from the hardship of the debt that they created and religion is most times involved.

We will see more of the same as the desperation, confusion and anger builds up in this "modern" society that values outside appearances more so then what is wise.

Childhood Dream, i agree with the "religion is involved" bit, but would amend it to say "misuse of religion, or deep theological misunderstandings" is more likely. This situation speaks volumes to the depravity of man, to which we are all susceptible (different degrees, obviously). For me, there is but one way that we can battle it, and I'll leave it at that.
