A new of approach for places that have told me no to put in a bin for recycling. I have been collecting dog treat plastic jars for new approach. I have successfully gotten 2 of 15 places that over denied me over the years. A church and my workplace. I washed off the label of the jar and wrote battery recycling on the side with a sticker. I told the church that I want to make a difference with how everyone views trash. I offer my jar for alkaline battery recycling and give them
business card to call when the jar is full for free pick up. In the three months I have tried this I have gotten a call to pick up a washer, dryer and refrigerator from a rental home and another for a couple of computers. My workplace I have gotten a lot of lithium batteries and CPU's. Everyone at work always says that they have a ton of stuff to give me, but are too lazy to bring it in.
When I went to pick up my 1st jar of batteries at the church. They couldn't believe that I recycled stuff like that and then I go into detail how keeping those out of a landfill is so important. It's a simple idea and approach because everyone throws them away or has a drawer full of them wanting to do the right thing. Then I hit them up with my sales pitch to try to get barrels in for recycling other items that I do.
I keep it very simple and non-evasive. People have seeked me out because of curiosity or wanting to know if I recycle more.
