    Rolly - I think you have the right approach with the batteries, for sure a door opener. At the same time it demonstrates a responsible approach to recycling one "small" widget that everyone uses and is familiar with. Most people do not know how to properly dispose of batteries and maybe clueless about the many types of batteries. The fact that all can be properly recycled, should give you a opportunity to help them recycle/scrap their much larger than battery "widgets".

    You just want to keep emphasizing that you recycle much more than batteries, then when they call for you, be able to take what they have. From battery man to the go to man for all things scrap!
