It would be a good idea to give your well a shock treatment. Maybe the plumber already did it ?
When your foot valve goes they have to pull that 80 feet of plastic pipe going down the well to get to it. They almost always drag it across the lawn where it picks up e-coli, coliform, and fecal coliform bacteria. If they stuff that pipe back down the well after the repair and they don't chlorinate all that nasty will breed and make you sick.
Anyway ... standard practice these days whether it's a municipal water pipe -or- a pipe in a private well. Always do a shock treatment with a 24 hour detention time and then flush it thoroughly after it's been disinfected.
There's a dosage chart available on line that goes by well depth & casing diameter so that you know the right amount of bleach to use.
