    Mobile Cheese

"Who moved my cheese" read it today and realized this is exactly how I came across scrapping in the first place. Needed money badly a couple years ago and wracked my brain for some time on how to get more "cheddar". Did some googling and found SMF. Best thing I ever did. I'm self sufficient with my own expenses now with scrapping. My paycheck goes to the house and I remain motivated to find wherever the cheese has been moved to. Unfortunately the value of my cheese has dropped considerably since then (thanks China!) but it's just motivation to find more in different Cheese Stations. Thanks for the reading suggestion!

I am a couple weeks away from putting a cheese station in my yard. I have a 12'x24' shop on the way and will wrap it with a fence. I will be able to scrap at my home. No driving to a shop across town. Just go out and make cheese in my very own shop. I just picked up two 55 gal plastic drums. One is going to be for brass, and the other will be for motors. I will have a wood shop where I can refinish yard sale furniture. I will have a shop to sell yard sale flips from. I will have a shop where I can organize tools and supplied for my handyman business. I am happier than a pig in chit!

Here's some food for though (pun intended).

After reading this article: If McDonald

I realized McDonald's had Cheese Station Mc. Cheese Station Mc was a never ending supply of Cheese.

McDonald's left Cheese Station Mc by bowing down and grabbing their ankles due to pressure from the health nazis/food police.

    McDonalds moved their own cheese!!!
Money is not the root of all evil, the love of money is.

In late 2001 I went gluten free.
My Doctor mentioned it and a workmate filled in some other info with the 'Eat right for your blood type' diet (O+).
Up till then McD's was where I ate at lunch and read the free newspaper. Also when on the road for work jobs.
But, I was feeling full, bloated, tired all the time. Couldn't crap without eating to push it thru my system.
But the 'tired all the time', and stress, that's what rooted me.

So, I can still eat the fries, sundae, remove the bread and eat the rest of the burger. Read the newspaper.
So they changed the menu. Every time they change the menu is a hassle. You have to start all over again. In the drivethru.....
Then, they put the prices up a bit. A bit too much.
Then they made the items a bit smaller, a bit too small.
You had to ask specifically for tomato sauce.. "Oh no tom sauce.! You didn't ask for it? Nah, forgot"
The food didn't taste the same. It felt like they were 'Nickel and dimeing' you. Cheating you really. Its just sauce.
Then they introed salads, I liked that. I could go twice a day. Sometimes.
But, then they put the price of sundaes up. Ok. Then they made the sundaes smaller..... Then they changed the Caramel....
Then. Then they advertised it "As you have always liked it".....

That was the beginning of the end. I know when I'm being ripped off, short changed and having the piss taken....
Even a free newspapers not going to make up for that.

And, even now, the slightest amount of burger bun and in a hour I'm asleep. I do not know what it is but its specific to McD's burger bread.
I can get away with a small amount of other burger buns. But not McD's .Dunno why.

I have been there less than 10 times in 5 years. Even asking for "Buns separate" . they do not understand and mess it up.

Started going to BurgerKing. But they get the order wrong, they up the price of everything by 5 or 10 cents and expect me not to notice.
Their icecream machine goes into 'Heat Mode' at random. Meaning no sundaes or shakes, meaning no combo meals... No deal. No newspaper.
    Gave that up too.
I get Chinese meals now. Local owner operator, family. No corporates. Says "Thankyou" and mean it.

"Who Moved My Cheese" was a book I used for discussion in educational in-services. It is very enlightening and thought provoking. Another great business motivational story is about the fish factory. I cannot remember the exact name, but it documents a fish market in New York including the history, strategies for profit, and most importantly respect for those involved. If I was to summarize these two stories it would be that efficiency, flexibility, and respect are the keys to success.

I wouldn't blame China for not buying. I would blame Russia for having a fire sale.

All the motivational and inspirational stories are all good to guide us. Sometimes it is important to appreciate what is really significant in life! Here's a short story for perspective.

    The American Dream

An American businessman was standing at the pier of a small coastal Mexican village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked. Inside the small boat were several large yellow fin tuna. The American complimented the Mexican on the quality of his fish.
"How long did it take you to catch them?" the American asked.

"Only a little while" the Mexican replied.

"Why don't you stay out longer and catch more fish?" the American then asked.

"I have enough to support my family's immediate needs" the Mexican said.

"But" the American then asked, "What do you do with the rest of your time?"

The Mexican fisherman said: "I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take a siesta with my wife, stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine and play guitar with my amigos. I have a full and busy life, seņor."

The American scoffed: "I am a Harvard MBA and could help you. You should spend more time fishing and with the proceeds you could buy a bigger boat and, with the proceeds from the bigger boat, you could buy several boats. Eventually you would have a fleet of fishing boats. Instead of selling your catch to a middleman, you would sell directly to the consumers, eventually opening your own can factory. You would control the product, processing and distribution. You would need to leave this small coastal fishing village and move to Mexico City, then Los Angeles and eventually New York City where you will run your expanding enterprise."

The Mexican fisherman asked: "But senor, how long will this all take?"

To which the American replied: "15-20 years."

    "But what then, seņor?"

The American laughed and said: "That's the best part. When the time is right, you would announce an IPO - an Initial Public Offering - and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich. You would make millions."

    "Millions, seņor? Then what?"

The American said slowly: "Then you would retire. Move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take a siesta with your wife, stroll to the village in the evenings where you could sip wine and play your guitar with your amigos..."
