    Remember the Concerts...

I went to a ton of concerts when I was younger. The best concert I ever saw was Pink Floyd at Tampa Stadium, Oct 30 1987, Momentary Lapse of Reason tour. The best concert prior to that was Styx, Paradise Theater tour. If Styx was a ten, Pink Floyd was a 40.

Any other live music nuts here?

I've seen Van Halen a few times. Always with DLR, never Van Hagar. They opened for the Stones in '81 Tattoo You tour.

The only concert I've been to was .38 Special. They came to the county fair, strangely enough. They put on one heck of a show!

Not much in the way of music comes to Wyoming. I should have bit the bullet when I could have seen Def Leppard in Salt Lake City. They are a band that I would love to see in concert.

Dire Straights. This was just near the end of the 'Brothers in arms' concerts, with 60,000 others. Fantastic. At the peak of BIA

Dragon, NZ group, probably remembered for the song 'April sun in Cuba' and 'Rain'. Anda bunch of other NZ groups.
    Bob Dylan
    AC/DC
    U2
Jimmy Barnes. Twice, By himself, he was in the Aussie group called 'Cold Chisel, and was the other choice for VanHalens lead singer once.
    Tina Turner
    Elton John
Sam Brown. Now she had a teeniebopper hit called 'Stop'. But she sung LedZepp songs at the concert and amazed everyone, she also did a impromptue preformace at a nightclub that night which made Kiwi rock history folklaw.

Joe Walsh from the band the 'Eagles'. A impromptue preformance by Joe Walsh at a bar he decided to drop into while in NZ one night.......Now THAT was amazing.

Pink Floyd Laser show, go see it if you can. Its not actually Pink Floyd, but the laser shows amazing. In Triple 3D......

    John Digweed (DJ)
    Timo Maas (DJ)

and probably a few others I cannot remember

Black Sabbath is playing their last concert tour early next year, the end of it is in NZ (from what I have been told) the last concert is in a huge stadium in Dunedin ( Doo-nee-din) at the same time Iron Maiden is touring. Now I am getting the impression that they may combine two concerts by two huge bands, one after the other for a massively intense farewell history maker.... We shall see... . Well I WILL!!.

If you were, and you traveled over the Howard Franklin after the concert, and you encountered a bad auto accident under a bridge just before the bridge, that was my friends that went with me. They got hit by a car hauler from behind. I had moved to the breakdown lane on the left and outran the truck. My friends were all fine, some minor injuries.

Milli Vanilli - Fantastic vocals! Sounded just like the studio version.

Most of the indie bands I went to go see when I was younger are no longer around. Their members either got married or money came between them or someone OD' so the band didn't go on because of bad memories, etc... although there was a band called Echosmith I saw at this years fair that was pretty good.

Never was able to go to many, either working, or too far away.

Best one had to be Lynyrd Skynyrd, outside, in the front row, right in front of the speakers...had hearing loss for about a week. Best. Time. Ever.

Lets see...Much as I love music, haven't hit many concerts. Some I have tho...

Jimmy Buffet - several times. I drank a lot...but I remember the shows. all **** good ones.
Neil Diamond - Did it for my wife...earned lots of brownie points. lol
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts - County Fair..a real fun show
Naughty by Nature - Same county fair as Joan Jett, but the following year.
Sugarhill Gang - Same fair as Naughty By Nature. Now that was cool seeing Rapper's Delight done live.
Motley Crue - Girl girls girls done live is pretty freaking cool. lol.

    A couple others I'm forgetting.

    Plan to see

BlackBerry Smoke, next time they come through NC, or Southern Va.
Lynyrd Skynyrd - My favorite band..I will see them..live.

Sirscrapalot - Rocking in the free world.

Never heard of em - I'm lucky to remember who did what this year at the fair(some kid got robbed then shot and the shooter got hit by a car while crossing State Fair Blvd a week after opening). There were more vendors out this year, I was all O.O

The fairgrounds has become more and more controlled by the city and they want bigger names on platform to draw in money. They were supose to have Snoop Dog but canceled at the last minute so the spot went to Echosmith. Last indie band I heard before them was The Hallow but I know their not together anymore. Growing up in the desert you don't get many choices on where to go for concerts or who plays.

I have done less and less since I settled down and got married, but I have probably been to around 500 concerts. This was basically all I did in my mid to late 20's. A huge portion of them were Phish, and a small band out of Ohio called Ekoostik Hookah. If any of you know who they are, you are pretty cool.

I have seen so many shows it's really hard to say what or who was best. One of my first concerts was ZZ Top in 1976 on their Fandango tour. The Yes "In the Round" tour 1979? was one of the best shows, not a bad seat as the stage rotated 360. 1981 at the Los Angeles Coliseum was a show I'll never forget. George Thorogood was first act (excellent) and The J. Geils Band was the next band to play (so far this show just keeps getting better). Then Prince took the stage, played two songs with no problems, then he started singing a song called "Jack U Off", the combination of the lyrics, his hand gestures and the fact he was only wearing "Bikini" briefs. Prince lasted less the 15 minutes on the stage and he was booed, forced off the stage as the fans started throwing any and everything on the stage. We wanted to hear "Start Me Up" and not "Jack U Off", the first and only time I have seen a act forced off the stage. The Rolling Stones took the stage after about a 30 minutes, staff needed to clean the debris off the stage, the Stones made up for Prince by playing late into the night.

In 1986 in Toulouse, France I met Douglas Thomson, the bass player for Super Tramp. Was invited to a concert by "Dougie" was able to see how a concert is put together and learned a little about the business of Rock N Roll. The best part of that concert was the "party" after the concert.

As far as the "Sound" of a live concert, the best shows are outside shows. Here in Southern Cal. I prefer the Hollywood Bowl or the Greek Theater, smaller crowds and much better sound. I haven't been to Red Rock in Morrison, Colorado. that must be the best place to see a show and on my list of "must do".

Doug Kershaw in concert was my favorite, at least by the best of my memory. Williams and Reed was another of my favorites. I would love to attend a Nitty Gritty Dirt Band Concert if they are in the area.
