No, I have not heard of manpons. Please enlighten me.

Reminds me of one time I was at Wal-Mart and the check out lady told me that saying TP as an abbreviation for toilet paper was offensive to some.
Apparently when you say TP to Indians (or native Americans if you prefer) they think you are making fun of teepees. Like the teepees Indians used to live in.

    More PC crap.

    Mood swings ?

It's all biological. The brain is just one big chemical stew. Add one hormone and you feel one way ... add another and you feel another.

I'll never forget the gent that was schizophrenic. He asked me what the most important thing in life was. I came up with a number of different answers and every time he said .... nope!

After awhile he simply said : " The most important thing in life is peace of mind. "

That was pretty profound, and it was one of those times when the abundant truth of what the other person was saying really rang true.

    Then ..... a strange thing happened !

Figuratively speaking, he turned into a werewolf right in front of my very eyes. He suffered a mood shift and looked very angry.

A moment later i was distracted by something. When i looked back he was gone. Never saw the man again ......

How to do this " in house " ?

Aww crap .... this is a deep subject. I'm not sure we should go down this road.

If we must .... let's start with stuff that people have heard of before then gradually shift to the esoteric.

I think most of us have heard the word worldview. Everybody has one. It's our own unique way of looking at the world around us. Obviously the worldview of a six year old girl is very different from that of a sixty year old man.

A more accurate way of describing a worldview is to call it "the assemblage point of perception".

For most people .... the assemblage point is firmly fixed. In other words ... they tend to look at the world in the same way most of the time.

Moods tend to cause a minor shift in the assemblage point. We tend to look at the world in a slightly different way depending on what our current mood is.

Alcohol also causes a temporary shift of perception.

Hallucinogens like LSD violently rip the assemblage point from it's position and cause it to shift wildly & uncontrollably. Just one trip will leave a person permanently changed. Repeated trips can cause permanent damage to the psyche and leave a person shattered. A rare few put themselves back together in a stronger form. Most will suffer a lifetime of mental illness. They lack the mastery of their assemblage point so it floats about at will. They shift helplessly from mood to mood.

Methods to regain mastery of a free floating assemblage point (control) are the subject of another post.

It's all so out of the ordinary .... it's hard to imagine that anyone would be interested.

'ANGER monkeys'....... That makes sooo much sense and is to become a new word of mine.

I do have a lot of trouble with people like that, they have to always 'one up' you and then if they do that, they then have to 'down one' on you. Its a endless cycle.
People that are angry/ weird right from the start and take libertys and every move or interaction has to benefit them only, like if it benefits someone else, then it had to have taken something from them and therefore demands creating a situation to take something from the benefactor.

That and 'created offensives'. Where someone 'creates' something thats offensive to them, on some idea or theory, just so they can take offense so they can justify a attack on their part.
At that point a succesful attack only brings the score back to 0 and so they then have to do another succesfull attack to balance the score in their favour.
If the attack does not 'score' then it has to be repeated again and again till it does, no matter how small the so called 'injustice' was to start off with.

We have people here in NZ who 'live' this theory.
If they cannot do something, and you can do it, then they have belittled themself and therefore need to reballance this equation out.
Thats where they start off from....
If you do then do it, you have belittled them twice... so therefore they need to attack twice.
If you make it seem easy, three times...
If they don't 'get one' in there and then, four times.... and so on.

Like if I was to help someone, they would have to watch as in their eyes it can only be done if they see it, if they cannot 'see it' it cannot exist, so therefore it cannot be done without them being there...
At that point they become in their eyes, 'the supervisor' and its only because they let it happen that it could happen in the first place..
So therefore, the person who does the work, is the underling and they are 'top dog' so to speak.
At the finish of the job. They have gained something, thats a injustice to them as it shows that they cannot do it themself and undermines them, so they have to make up for it.
Stealing some of your tools works for them..... Because you needed the tools to do the job, because you cannot do it without the tools, they have rebalanced the 'power'. And because they now have the tools, they, in theory, can now do the job, rebalancing the power in their favour...

Now, if you do not mention the tools going missing, their theory is that you have not noticed, so therefor it never happened to you, so expect some more tools to go missing....

And then from there on, they will mention these tools (to regain some upper hand) or ask if you can do the same job for them again....
Since you did it once, why should you not do it again for them? their theory...
If you say "No" its a 'slight' against them.
If you mention not having the tools, its a 'one up' for them, and a 'two down' for you....
    And it goes on........

I actually have the book that teaches them how to do this, at home somewhere.
I found it in a pile of second hand books and theres no way I should have been able to get this book. Theres a lot of 'hoops' they have to go thru before they get this book, among other books...

Its just a 'broken brain' to me. If you fall into this trap, you are stuck in it from then on thru life, a screwed up little hate monkey....

I think to some degree or another we all believe we are the center of the universe. On some level we want to believe that we will live forever.

    It's called narcissism.

Some take themselves more seriously than others. There are the psychopathic, sociopathic, narcissistic, borderline, and hisitoronic personality disorders to name a few. There is also a complex of behaviors that surround the alcoholic personality.

These folks tend to take everything personally. If a perceived injustice has been suffered they HAVE to even the score. They're also about dominance, submission, control, authoritarianism, money, force, and POWER.

< shrugs > There's no mystery to this.

If one wanted an opinion there are a couple of inconvenient truths that get in the way.

1: Power and control really don't exist. These things are just a human myth.

2: We're all quite mortal. At best ... we might have 100 years to live and then we're gone. Within a few generations all living memory of us will be lost. Even the name we have carved on a granite headstone will be weathered away in time and it will be as though we never even existed.

This understanding helps with keeping things in perspective.

Lol .... we're not nearly as important as we would like to think we are.

Aww ... i'm sorry. Wasn't trying to pop your bubble Burt.

I was just responding to what CD & eesa were saying about all the crazy people out there giving the world heartburn. It's driven by egotism & the I-self.

To some degree or another .... don't we all try to remake the world in our own image ?

Perhaps it would be better to go sit under a tree for twenty years and watch the world go by before setting out upon a crusade to make it a better place ?

The path to hell is often paved with even the best of intention.

I was just having some fun at my expense, hope no no one takes my approach serious. Certainly wasn't trying to disagree with anything said in this thread. Fact is I generally agree with or at least recognize that there is just too much self center thought in this world period. Fact is most people handle what's thrown at them in our daily lives pretty good, some even do so with great ability to adapt. As always though there's a minority that don't make much of a effort at anything but self "fixation", on themselves and don't mind taking others over the "cliff" without even a care!

Chinese philosophy of Yin and Yang is all about the balance needed in life, that opposites and opposing forces tend to become complimentary, connected, yet independently bring resolve and purpose to everything. I'm no expert at this, but my GF keeps reminding me of how long it's been utilized.

Kinda figured that you were joking Burt but there are many who would take offense to what i said.

I was talking with a Vet from operation Desert Storm years back. Gotta choose my words carefully, but he said that many of the Iraqi troops didn't survive the conflict. There were many. Their bodies had to be disposed of so they were buried in mass unmarked graves wherever they fell. In the chaos of war there was no documentation.

It's sad to think that a person could be so completely erased like that never to be seen or heard from again. ( I always wondered what it was like for their loved ones back home.)

There are a lot of folks out there that would find that notion appalling yet the same fate awaits us all.

    Yin & Yang ? :

It brings us full circle back to where the thread started about moods & finding balance. They say that our mind is of two parts. There's the half that deals with reason and logic. The other half is the emotional side where our moods & creativity are found.

Most folks favor one side or the other. The people who are emotionally driven and egotistical seem to suffer more with the hate monkey.

The trick is learning how to shift over to the other side so that one can become objective & detached. If you " feel" anything it's just a sense of peace and contentment.

Yep, pjost, a wussified world. I love it when the media calls these guys that are now "women" (unless they are truly had the knife and reconstruction) by heir "new" name. Love it when they call that little POS Manning (who leaked all the classified material to the Swedish Wikileaks guy) by his girl's name all to be pc hip. Call him by the name he used when he swore an oath to the U.S. Constitution and then betrayed it. Calling him by his girl's name doesn't get him off the hook for his disloyality.

So calling "toilet tissue" TP is going to offend some of the NA folks, why, because its equating the dwelling that some of the plains tribes lived in (certainly not the majority of NA lived in "teepees" when old Christopher C. showed up in the Caribbean Sea) with bodily waste??? As a Midwestern white guy, I certainly would not have never thought about it in that way until the pc label was applied. And then that picture in my head magically appeared. Sorry, you'll probably p*** someone off by what a person does in a day if everything is dissected in such a fashion.

pjost- Did I ever tell you the story about in a c-store somewhere along that lovely stretch of I-29 in way northeast SD, that my Boy Scout colleagues were refused service at a NA run/manned business because the Class A uniform had the eastern South Dakota council patch on it and that council patch uses a common NA name in at least 4 states?? I guess Sioux Falls and Sioux City better get their heads out of their collective Neanderthal a***s and get pc-wise and change the names of their cities. Oh, wait, Sioux Falls, I mean Sanford Falls, already has (inside regional joke, if you're interested, google "Sioux Falls, t. denny sanford)...
