I have been in and around water my entire life, I learned to swim before I learned to tie my own shoes. It wasn't until I joined the Navy and started training to be a flight engineer, then I learned to be a qualified "expert swimmer". This required becoming a certified first class swimmer and going thru water survival training, where you are taught "proven skills" that will help ensure survival of all mishaps and hostilities. It was here that I learned to RESPECT all encounters in, on and near any body of water!

With training I have little fear of being in any body of water, I have tremendous RESPECT of the dangers any body of water can present.

This video demonstrates just a "little" of that learning to respect the water:

How about stupid instead of crazy.

I remember in high school jumping off the cliffs at Percy Priest Lake. I'm guessing 25 to 30 feet. Not very smart.

Indicate about 100 feet from the bottom of the bridge and 135 from the top

Indicate This bridge is about 65 ft above water at the base and 105 from the top yet I have seen people jump from both areas.

I kept waiting for them to jump back in. What was the camera guy going to do, film them drowning? My guess they are so crazy/stupid they have done this more than once.

In all due respect to Alloy 2, I debated between starting a new thread or contributing to his. The decision must be evident.

I live in a rural area and have a choice between 2 1/2 channels, satellite, or cable. The refusal to pay for TV access is based on the fact I am an active person that does not like to sit down. I recently bought a Roku player that added a great deal of diversification. I went to the Go Pro channel tonight and was amazed by the stupidity we live amongst.

The reason for the post is two fold. First is the variety of challenges we face and two the option to go to Roku for entertainment. I bought the player and do not have to pay for access to certain channels. It depends on internet that I will pay for. A great investment given the upcoming snow storm. Time to bunker down and learn how to pace myself.

Not trying to derail the thread, but if others go to Go Pro, they will see the stupidity humanity has created.

Come to my sandbar, you'll see these "insane" type of folks every year. Usually on a stretcher being airlifted up to Norfolk, or worse.

I respect the ocean, always have..but I tell ya..living on a sandbar helps one to respect it.

The height from bridge to water depends on the time of year you go, in the spring the water is probably 15 ft higher than during a dry spell in the summer.
85 ft at bottom and 115 ft at the top the day we brought a rope to measure.

I was in the army as a younger man. One thing that was driven into us (no offense to our air force) was, the drill sergeant would always scream at us, "there's only 2 things that fall from the sky, bird$hit and fools".
