Tor Browser

I just installed the Tor browser, curious if any of our forum members are using Tor.



Was a bit of a pain to install on Ubuntu some of the posted instructions that should have been as simple as copy and past into a terminal was missing sudo, once I placed sudo in front of the instructions everything went the installation went fine.

Nope. Chromium for me on Linux, and Opera for me on Windows. It does everything that I need it to do.

That is this forum, and looking at goat photos. What more could you want?

Since the original SR was taken down, a successor site SR2 opened having a short lifespan as of Jan 01/2016 SR3 is about to come online. Having knowledge of sinister sites such as Silk Road and what is available is not a crime, whereas purchasing and possession might very well be on some country's.

Governments have not yet figured out a way to tax knowledge.

Onion routing is implemented by encryption in the application layer of a communication protocol stack, nested like the layers of an onion. Tor encrypts the data, including the destination IP address, multiple times and sends it through a virtual circuit comprising successive, randomly selected Tor relays. Each relay decrypts a layer of encryption to reveal only the next relay in the circuit in order to pass the remaining encrypted data on to it. The final relay decrypts the innermost layer of encryption and sends the original data to its destination without revealing, or even knowing, the source IP address. Because the routing of the communication is partly concealed at every hop in the Tor circuit, this method eliminates any single point at which the communicating peers can be determined through network surveillance that relies upon knowing its source and destination.

On of my main interests are in encryption from its birth to how it was hardened made stronger via hackers finding its exploits, I participated in the distributed network that linked thousands of computers together from around the world that were working trying to break an encrypted key,

In the early days strong encryption was by the US government classified as a munitions and export was prohibited.

This is an interesting story if you can get a documentary of the US Government and the Clipper Chip it's a eye opener, a total waste of money and resources as technology outpaced the chip before it could be fully implemented.

In the meantime you all will have to settle for the Wiki, Clipper Chip

Goat photos not depicted by google's local geographical location to my home Province or State.

Using search engines from the Tor network keep you free from Googles intrusive tracking, thus your searches are truly global.

To give an example, I did a search using the same terms, one for Firefox the top picture, with the Tor search below - compare and see the difference in the search returned from both browsers used in this demonstration.
