    Anybody else watching Superbowl I?

It is on NFL Network right now. From what I've read, the original broadcast of Superbowl I was recorded over. Can you imagine that?!?!? The NFL had some cameras on the sidelines and whatnot, and took the radio broadcast and put film to the sound and piecemealed the entire game together. Every play. Quite a feat.

Pretty cool to watch old school football. Packers vs. Chiefs. Bart Star vs. Len Dawson.

No long hair, no celebrating every 3 yard gain, no penalties for late hits on the QB, just real football!!!

    Spoiler alert...The Packers win
Money is not the root of all evil, the love of money is.

I remember listening to the game on the radio with My Dad and uncles, game was here in LA, at the coliseum. The game was "blacked out".because it did not sell out (only Super Bowl to not sell out), Coliseum seated 94,000 then and just over 61,000 tickets were purchased, so we listened only to first Super Bowl. I have missed watching only two Super Bowls (1 and XX), Super Bowl XX I was in Toulouse, France, it's like they never heard of American football. The amazing thing about Super Bowl I and all of original TV footage being erased. That is the only Super Bowl to be on two networks simultaneously, NBC had rights to AFL games and CBS had rights to all NFL games. So it wasn't just one network that erased football history, they had to really work at that now didn't they?

Super Bowl I was part of a negotiated agreement between the two leagues that took place to merge the AFL with the NFL. Prior to 1966 the AFL was considered to be "not as professional" as the NFL. Super Bowls have became like a "unofficial national holiday", I got in a little trouble once at my Airline job. For not authoring overtime and not bringing in extra people to compensate for "the sick and no shows" day of and the day after a Super Bowl. I was told "you should have anticipated that, you know how big of a National event a Super Bowl is don't you? I do now!

Not to argue with you Burt, but Super Bowl XX was played at the Superdome in New Orleans: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl_XX

That was the '85 Bears William "Refrigerator" Perry, Walter Payton, Jim McMahon, Mike Singletary, etc.

And who can forget the "Super Bowl Shuffle"?

I'm sure it will be on again sometime. As for the commercials, they were all modern day commercials. You know, Viagra, Cialis, Bud Light.

    So...boring. Got it.

Didn't recently but have watched many past SuperBowls,

I won't ruin the rest of the series tho for you guys.

Edit: I was referring to the commercials as boring, not the game! Old NFL is good stuff.

I may have miss-read the tittle.

You are asking if anyone watched the first Supper Bowl? If that's what you are asking then yes I did watch it. I also watch about half of Super bowl #2 then I found something interesting to do. I haven't been back. To those who like it I am ok with that but I am always finding other things to do than watch sports. Mike

pjost - You are 100% correct I was saying I have only missed watching two Super Bowl games: 1. Super Bowl I, I was a kid living in Los Angeles, game was "blacked out", as the Coliseum did not sell out. So we had to listen to the game on local AM radio. 2. Super Bowl XX, I was out of the country, on a business trip in Toulouse, France. I tried very hard to watch the game. For a week before game, I started trying to find a place, my hotel (the most expensive in that city) couldn't help me, all the sports bars (no help). In my limited french, I got very frustrated, every time I said the word "football". Oui, Oui, Monsieur "football", the French, always eager to please a American away from home, would give me another free beer and change the channel to yet another soccer game!
I ended up calling home every 20 minutes, so my family could put a speaker phone on to listen to most of that one too!

two lesson for me: 1. As a American we know what football is, almost the entire rest of this planet, "football" is soccer.
    2. I should have tried harder in school to learn French better!

Yes Super Bowl XX was played in the Super Dome, the Bears beat the Patriots 46 to 10, the Bears had a great season and deserved that victory. So many great names on that Bears team, my favorite was a rookie called "The Refrigerator", who played both defense and was also used on offense to score touchdowns, including one in that Super XX.

    Sorry for any confusion.

My mistake Burt. I think I may have dyslexia sometimes. I read your post as SB XX was PLAYED in France lol. Then I thought wait a minute Burt is a big sports fan, he knows no SB was played in France. Too late, I opened my big mouth before thinking again lol.

Two Ounces: those coins are super cool.
