    Forum Software Programs

I am interested in starting a message forum would like some input from people who have had experience using them. I added PHPbb and I found it a bit complicated to set up and use. Granted, it was the first time I had ever used it or even tried a forum program, but I thought there may be something more intuitive... On the other hand, perhaps people consider that to be the easiest and I just need to work with it and learn it over time.

    Any help would be nice.

    Thank you,
    Todd

XenForo is one I would look into. I have never done any of the setting up a forum myself, but have been around for a couple start ups as just a user. The one forum that switched to XenForo seems to be slick and easy for the administrator/owner to handle who supposedly is not the most computer savvy.

Caveman beat me to it. Xenforo is the new popular kid in class. A couple of forums I frequent for gaming have made the switch recently from their older systems to Xenforo. My only use tho comes as a reader/poster not as staff. Like Caveman said tho, seems to be easier to deal with on the back end from all that I've herd.

I'd check into them an then of course whatever forums you frequent. You might get a faster answer tho by pm'ing the staff of whatever forums you decide to ask on. Sure we got a few former forum owners here somewhere, perhaps they'll chime in an save you from having to visit a bunch of sites.

Good luck, an hope you got lots of patience.

We're spoiled here, we got a really good group of folks an a small amount of drama if any. Most forums are nowhere near as civil as ours.

Sirscrapalot - If a kid refuses to sleep during nap time, are they guilty of resisting a rest?

We'll see. I belong to the Kitco board which is a precious metals related board. With economic relationship of the precious metal market and economic issues, talk spills over into a political nature. This board is much more focused on the nits and bolts of a subject and I think that helps keep the discussion off the political track. I plan to keep the board focused on a subject that does not overlap with political issues.
