I just saw this, thanks to Pj for sending me a pm, as I've been on a leave of absence from the public side of the forum.
First...my condolences to you Trudy. Mike, or Mech as many of us knew him as, was a good man, an someone I had a lot of respect for. I don't say that about many folks. Words can't express the amount of respect I had/have for him. He was always there to lend a hand to the new folks, an he had a knack for keeping some of us "rabble rousers" in line(mainly me..haha!). A true stand up fellow.
I never got to meet Mike/Mech in person, but I did get to chat with him on here, an I got to know him, and for that...my life is better cause of it. He was one of the first to welcome me, he was one of the first to encourage my quotes and taglines, he was the first "staff" member on my friends list. I still remember his PM back lol'ing when I asked if he was allowed to be friends with us peasants.
It's gonna be tough knowing I can't just PM Mech, or laugh when I see him post that Zapped tatter tot thread for the 1000th time. Or to know I won't get any more pm's asking me.."Wtf is up with the goats?", an yes..I will miss his seemingly magical way of producing a link to whatever you were looking for.
I'd like to say more, but for once...words fail me. So...I'll let my quotes do the talking.
You and I will meet again, When we're least expecting it, One day in some far off place, I will recognize your face, I won't say goodbye my friend, For you and I will meet again. - Tom Petty
It's time to say goodbye, but I think goodbyes are sad and I'd much rather say hello. Hello to a new adventure. - Ernie Harwell
Tell Mick I said hi, an I know you two will be sitting around the scrapyard up above keeping an eye on your flock.
With much love, respect, and a mix of sadness tossed in.../salute to you Mike/Mech.
R.I.P. Mike/Mech 1949 - 2016
Edit: If you folks haven't visited the funeral home site, there is an Obituary for Mike/Mech.
