My condolences to you and your family. I too am in the group of haven't been here long, and never met him. But learned a lot of what this forum taught me from his posts and input. Hopefully there's scrap yards in heaven and he's got a new audience to show the ropes to. Rest easy Mechanic, you will be missed.

Well... shoot. I was all whipped up about meeting ewasted while on a big ol vacation only to sign in a couple days ago and see this thread (yeah, it took me a while to screw up the gumption to post something). Condolences, and many thanks for keeping the SMF community informed about Mike's passing.

I don't post a whole lot, but I've been around long enough here (and on the interwebs in general) to recognize a quality community when I see one. I've always been impressed by the friendliness, respect, and willingness to share this forum engenders in people, an atmosphere due in no small part to Mike's efforts, undoubtedly. Unfortunately I didn't know him all that well, but the notes others have written here are all I need to understand and appreciate the kind of person he was. It's hard to see someone like that go, he will obviously be missed. We all owe him and those like him a moment of gratitude.
