Thumbs up Off topic but an idea to get feedback on

I have wanted to run a big recycling even in my city. I have spoken to a couple of city officials and various groups that say they would like to be part of it. Now my idea is this, turn in your unwanted electronics, Phones, TV's, Washers Driers, and household appliances! No charge donation center.
Now my idea is to have vendors at the event to offer information and have sponsors, say appliance sponsors. The sponsors will supply you with brochures to pass out with a discount offer. Now where you make money on the sponsor is they are paying you for including them in your little giveaways bags, the people get when turning in their old stuff.
This could be done at a church or a local school. You gave them a small portion of the profits and boom you have product that was free and brought to you, and you give your card out and make money from advertising other businesses. You also look like a great guy cleaning up your area.

There are several threads relating to recycling drives. If you had put recycling drive in the tittle I think you would have found a list of related threads show up at the end of this one. Other than that I don't have any experience with organizing drives.

I do suspect if you run one you will receive many items that you will not want but will have to smile and say thank you for. You will certainly need to be prepared for dealing with crt type tv's. Good luck, Mike

I am sure there is but do you not want to hear about or want feedback on the same topic? Everybody has their own pov, and that is the important thing.

Only problem I can think of is they already have said item washer or dryer and that's why they are getting rid of their old one. But I feel that you could still have interested businesses out there. Other places that recycle items, used book stores, thrift shops giving away discount coupons. Or places that are green, solar, water harvesting or other companies like that. And if you can do it at a church, school or community center it will be even better.

Not trying to speak for Mike here, but I think he meant his post as in...There are other threads on this topic that can help you do what your trying to do. A different POV is a great thing, but I didn't get that from your first post...no offense to ya. It seemed more like a quick summary. Again I'm not trying to be rude, just relating how your first post came off to me.

A couple good threads on this subject already on the forums, an from some folks who know a thing or two about such events. An so I'll turn your question back on you....Don't you want other POVs? Cause that's exactly what those older threads are. Folks who've done everything in your original post. Or maybe something different you didn't think about?

The forum archives are a great resource. All you folks that didn't know...it's a treasure trove of info.

Anyhow...just my observations. Best of luck to ya, an let us know how it works out for you when you get those events running. We do like that kind of thing.

Oh an I'd love to hear of your experience, as it could very well help someone in the future. Just cause we suggest reading other threads, doesn't mean we don't care about your thread or are uninterested. I think all of us here like to see our members be successful.
