A childhood story. I had a small female dog named Lilly, which was all or mostly Rat Terrior( a small breed) and we had a black male tom cat that lived in the barn. We just called him "cat" The cat made much of his living killing varmints in the barn and the dog would kill rats and rabbits any where she could find them. The cat had lost one of his front legs to a fox trap but was still a bad a$$ in the farm area. The evidence is all the black cats that still live on the surrounding farms.
One day the neighbors 3 very large white Shepard dogs showed up and surrounded myself and my dog. Each of the Shepard's weighed near what I did and my dog weighed in at about 7 lbs. I'm not certain what the dogs wanted other that to kill my dog but they didn't seem to fear either of us. While I kept an eye on the three of them I looked for a stick or rock or something to defend myself.
Well around the corner of the house came a hell raising black streak of a pi$$ed off cat, I mean he was moving on those three legs. He jumped on to the back of the one nearest and dug in his claws, the dog cried and he ran to the next closest one. He stood on his back paws and whacked that one his nose while letting out what seemed like a scream. All three dogs ran off.
From that day to this I refer to that barn cat as "Mr. Cat"
Sorry for the long winded story but seriously one of my fondest childhood memories. 73, Mike
