I once bought a brand new HP $1000 Color Laser that crapped out before the toner even was through its first set of cartridges.
About 2 years ago I got a beaut Okidata 5500 Color Laser on an
e-waste pickup.
I used it until the drum failed and the cartridges were all but spent. Replacement costs were outrageous!
So I scrapped it.
I just put into service one from a load I pick up. I recently scored (2) Used LaserJet 1320's with OEM cartridges in them.
I will use the one until the cartridge is done, and swap in the next. If the printer fails, I'll put the second one into service.
They are just throw-aways at this point. I print until they die, and scrap them when they are done.
But I won't waste my $ fixing a printer anymore or buying new ever again!
