Arizona state University has these auctions frequently. I used to try to bid on the lots of scrap especially old computer towers. After being outbid by ridiculous amounts every time I stopped. There would be bins with maybe 500 pounds of shred steel currently worth about 60 bucks a ton in the Phoenix area selling for a hundred bucks. The same people buy it all and pay way to much for it. I always wonder what their scheme is unless they like to go broke. They pick it all up with flat bed semi trucks. Anyone know how they do it?

They sell, repurpose, or refurbish the items is my best guess.

I wish I was wealthy enough to speculate like that !
