    Batten the hatches!

    Dear Hurricane Matthew,

We have no vacancies. Please reschedule your vacation for another part of the Atlantic.

    Thanks!

    Signed,

People who like their houses, an don't want them under water or turned into toothpicks.

    Another one coming.

I go awol this weekend, ya'll know why.

If ya live on, or near the east coast...you may wish to keep an eye on the weather, as the current storm track has it going straight up the east coast.

Batten your scrap down, bring in your pets, stick your head between your legs an hope for the best!

I know my weekend is going to be interesting...I hope the rest of you have a less exciting one.

Looks like it will miss the west coast of the east coast. Hope things turn out well for you. Hope you live on a robust sandbar.

It's been here for a couple hundred years. So I ain't worried about the sandbar going anywhere.

Now my house...that's another story. Figure now that I own my own place we get hurricanes an tropical storms. Life was easier as a renter. ha ha!

I'm feeling kind bad for the people Haiti, Cuba and the Bahamas. Their getting the storm at full strength. 120mph - 130 when it "rakes" the three I mentioned.

I think they know more then their telling tho...watching the weather channel right now an their talking about SC evacuating their coastal area. Let's here it for fear mongering!

Don't worry, you all get to deal with me up til at lest Friday.

Good luck to you. I can deal with the blizzards, whiteouts, and tornadoes in the center of the nation. I cannot imagine what it is like to add the ocean to the mixture. May the force be with you and not against you. And do not tell us you do not have water wings for the cooler. In the Dakota's that would be an offense equal to cattle rustling. Hanging for the individual and burial for the cooler after empting. This is posted with all due respect. That is how much I respect your situation. Make sure you protect the goats.

    Thank ya!

An rest assured all of you fine folks.

This isn't the first storm me an the cooler have weathered. Nor will it be the last(I hope!), I'm sure.

The cooler will keep me strong and without fear. For I know what it's stocked with.

Liquid courage is good at times.

You'll always be Patriot to me, but on a side note...one of favorite series of books..the main character is named Dirk.

@NH...you didn't hear? No need to make horror movies anymore. Just turn on the Weather Channel, watch the news or listen to a bunch of politicians chit chat. You'll have nightmares!

Jokes aside..thank ya for your thoughts.

@mike my coastal brother from another mother...stay safe down your way. Storm surge is going to be a *****.

So...like..don't come to the beach this weekend folks. Stay home. Cook out. Watch a movie.

An to show you how serious my sandbar is taking this...they canceled the Nag's Head Surf fishing Tournament.

Ok back to the fear mongering..I mean weather channel.

Sirscrapalot - Dirk Pitt: We need to find that bomb.

Al Giordino: No. I'll find the bomb. You get the girl.

    Dirk Pitt: ...Deal!

Clive Cussler...awesome series of books. Dirk Pitt. Fun, engaging stories, an sometimes you even learn something! An I've read them all...a lot.

Don't tell anyone but they tend to freak out down that way.

An to be fair...it's the home of Myrtle Beach which sees a lot of traffic still at this time of the year.

My county will be deciding what to do in the next day or so far as tourists go. I expect them to get boot off of Hatteras. Us locals will be given the choice to stay or go. They couldn't make us all leave if they wanted to tho. Heh. Small town, small police force.

Anyhoo...who needs American Horror Story when you have the weather channel.

I hope everything goes well for you - the media is making this storm out to be a big one !!!
If I was that close to the east coast ( or tornado alley ), I would personally live in a house like this:

The media does a fine job with the fear. Sex, Violence and disaster sell nowadays.

I'd take that house for tornado alley if I had to deal with those!

They just did an update, like...the majority of FL is under a watch or warning. From the Atlantic almost all the way to the gulf. Craziness.

    Hurricane survival kit :
    A cooler(Duh!)
    Stuff for cooler.
Lots of adult beverages for fridge AND cooler.
    Food that won't spoil.
    More beverages...adult an non.
    See Adult beverages.
    See Above.
    See Above.
A comfy chair to pass..err nap in.
A camera for those moments things go really eerie quiet an you just have to sneak out side to snap a pic. Nothing fancy.
More adult beverages for being stupid an going out in a hurricane.
    Chips
    Goats

Sirscrapalot - I have a cooler, I fear nothing...unless it's an empty one. Then I cry and get a sad face like this

If that truly is an untouched up, official NASA image (the "teeth" and "smile" look just too good not to be photoshopped), then I think Satan is having a little fun with NASA. Looks sort of like a gray colored "Grinch" from the Jim Carrey movie...

I am finally all buttoned up. I started yesterday morning and made some great progress. Then ended up having to take care of the step daughter's house today before finishing up at home. Woot! All boarded up.

Will probably not be available for a bit.

Made it to my local watering hole and grabbed some take home food. The wife and step daughter are on a plane to Illinois. It was a planned trip and I had to cancel my flight but got full credit for a future flight. Wish I could have made it back to see my parents.

Stay safe! Logging out for a bit.

Parrot ya be safe my friend.

Same to all of our members down there in Florida, or anywhere else in the path of the storm. I'll hoist a couple from the cooler for ya'll Florida folks. Hurricane Warning clear into Orlando. Craziness. I think last I looked the whole state had a watch or warning of some kind.

Time to go charge up a couple more little power bricks so I can power the kindle an charge phones an stuff if the power goes. I'll do my final work tomorrow here. We should start seeing rain soon, but the worse won't come for us till late Saturday/Early Sunday from my understanding.

An the skull thing.... my wife mentioned it to me earlier. First I saw a pic of it tho. I have to agree with Dakota looks like someone having fun with a editing program. AN I totally see the grinch...lol.
