Billboards list from when Sandy was coming.. Hurricane Sandy: 15 Songs to Ride Out the Storm | Billboard
I can say...I only agree with a couple of them, an three have been posted here. lol.
Sirscrapalot - Riders on the storm... - The Doors
sir s are they evacuating by you? Crazy when you see cars going the wrong way on the highways in order to leave
I got this off the Kitco board...
LOL .... The snowbirds up here in Maine fly the coop at the first sign of gunfire. Deer season is almost upon us and the hunters have been sighting in their rifles over the last week or so.
Poor things , the snowbirds fly south to Florida and the Carolinas on their seasonal migration. Looks like they will have no peace if they're being driven off the sandbar as soon as they land.
==========
Duh, i finally get the Hatteras thing.
The Certainteed "Hatteras" line of roofing shingles that i've been using on my roofing jobs have a wind resistance rating 130 MPH.
Now i see why !
Keep your head down Bro. If those things start blowing off the roof it will be like a million flying Frisbees comin' your way.
Dress up like a clown and walk on the beach during the Weather live segment!
Run nekkid and photobomb the weather news anchor ?
It may not be sirscrap's travelling cooler, but it's still a cooler.
Yep better to open and close your washer during a power outage to get that beer than your fridge!

Can you get ice from wife's work? Wen my fishing buddy and I worked at a hotel It was great fill up the cooler when we left for the night. Funny one time we put a bud light can in a 5 gal bucket of water and put it in the kitchen freezer, it defrosted on the second day of the fishing trip LOL.

Ice - I could yes, but I'll be at the house, she'll be at the hotel with most of the animals. Beagle is staying with me. You know in case I gotta rescue someone..
Snowbirds - We're not a destination for the two legged snow birds unless it's a real warm winter. Even then tho, our winds get whipping an bring in that cold air at night. Plus..we lack tall buildings, so again...their exposed to the wind an cold once night falls. So they usually just past us an head straight to FL, or out west to AZ, etc etc. Thankfully my tourist season is only 3 to 4 months.
Evacuations - Not yet. They were in the process of starting one for Hatteras and Ocracoke, but then decided to left it. FL and SC seem to be the big targets for the storm. For us it can still go either way, right now everything shows it coming right up to my area but then hooks a right an u turns back down to FL. I've learned one thing over the years with these things...things can change real fast. Right now I think their calling for about 8 inches of rain, and wind. I expect to at lest see tropical force winds...which is 50+ I think. SC has been evacuating since Tuesday if I recall right.
Photobombing/running naked/other crazy antics - No thank you. One...that rain is cold. The wind sucks an you'd likely not get far running unless it was with the wind, an then you'll most likely be flying. Plus..the news people are all down in FL and SC trying to one up each other. And...I don't like the news people. They lie. An I'm talking the weather people not the news news people. Al Roker was a big jerk. Cantore...don't get me started. There's a reason he doesn't come down here anymore. Heh. I'll admit to being crazy, but I'm not suicidal so I'll just chill out in the house emptying the cooler, an playing cards with the beagle. lol.
All the news guys came down one year, an they stayed at the wife's hotel. What I learned was this...
They spray themselves with water an have fans going if nature isn't cooperating when they need to do a live action shot. An yes I saw it with my own eyes. Spray an buckets of water. I also had to help fix the rooms they allowed to get all messed up. They'd go in the ocean side rooms an leave the balcony doors open. Doesn't seem like a big issue till you the person/company having to spend the money to fix 15 rooms that are now out of order an can't be rented till their fully dry an cleaned. Grrr.
An finding out Al Roker is a **** in real life is like finding out Santa is on a sex offender list. Or Jesus is running a meth lab. Heh.
Sorry for the long post...but now I don't have to post 6 times! Work smart, not hard!
Best wishes to ya folks south of me in SC, GA, and especially FL. Keep yer heads down an stay safe.
Sirscrapalot - No quote..but a video!
I hope the camera crews leave you some cool stuff
Currently looking for a job in or related to scrap/recycling. Relocation is possible for the right offer.
They did once. I think it was sandy. Dude had to catch a plane up north, left 64 coors, 2 5 gallon tanks of gas and a unopened 2 liter of pepsi.
He's on my Christmas Card list. It was Coors, but hey...free beer! Oh an two coolers. They got added to the collection.
Most of the smaller weather crews are good folks, but the big stars, and the weather channel people? They are NOT on my Christmas card list.
Sirscrapalot - Cleaning up after a pine tree is like herding cats. Your left wondering wtf you were thinking.
Ah yes, those reporters do love a good hurricane or any other disaster. I'll bet they all get wet tips and panties just thinking about reporting in 90 mph winds.
A report I'd like to see....below.
There is a video floating around of a reporter getting nailed with a stop sign. lol.
Buddy showed me it last night.
I think it might have been doctored tho. If not I'll feel bad for laughing.
Sirscrapalot - Laughter is a good thing.
Yes that was it!
Good I don't feel bad for laughing...an yes, she deserved it. lol.
Sirscrapalot - An don't nobody go swimming...*THWACK*
Sir, how's Matthew treating you? I hope everything is well.
Getting closer.
Winds picked up a tad. It's raining a bit had one down pour so far.
Supposed to pick up later, but I'm not seeing any kind of stuff the Weather Channel is babbling about. Thankfully mind you. I have a feeling inland is going to get it worse then we are. Made landfall in SC, an already showing lots of signs of weakening. I think their saying now 5 to 8 inches of rain for the sandbar, some wind(45 to 55mph) an of course storm surge.
Not making light, it's still a tropical storm or will be when it reaches me fully but nothing like the folks of FL, GA, and SC saw. I'm quite thankful for that.
Now I'm off to petition.org to start a petition for The Weather Channel to change it's name to "The Horror Channel". I swear their worse then the mainstream media with their fear mongering hyperbole.
Sirscrapalot - I guess the saying "Sex sells" has been replaced with "Fear brings in raises and bonuses!".
