As this one is only 3 days old I should not have to get it serviced. And we will see if the next one has the same problem

Don't get the ceramic top stove if you go back. Get something different for the love of god. Two major reasons - cleaning is an absolute nightmare (if you don't use it at all, this isn't a problem). Also, just for regular cooking even the old electric type is much better..if you can ever find out how, get gas though.

I second that. We have a ceramic top stove and my wife broke it ceramic top. She had a large pot of water that boiled over and the water hit the burner and broke the ceramic.
Replacing the top was expensive and in the end two of the burners don't heat up properly. Never again for us. Mike
