There are some really crazy pullers out there. 5 blown hemi's on some to do the same pull to the line as these old workhorses. I really enjoy the old time tractors. There is a show in Apache Junction Az every winter where people bring out their old farm tractors and implements. They also have a tractor pull. A friend has a 1930's I think was a Hoyt Clagwell. A huge heavy tractor. It was geared so as to go really slow but there was no amount of weight it could not pull. I have a 60's Montgomery ward lawn tractor with a ten horse twin Briggs and lots of gears with a real heavy duty transmission. The event also has a pull sled for them as well. Mine will pull an amazing amount of weight until it maxes out and pulls a big wheelie. No competing. Just having fun. There are old timers with their hit & miss engines too. One last year was from a hotel in Chicago that ran an elevator. It was about 10 feet tall. A huge hit & miss machine.
